Does it really matter if you take a hostage,
or look mmm....so lovingly & long at that pie?
Does it matter if objects on shelfs
suddenly materialize deep inside your jacket lining?
Does it matter what that man tells me
about some perfect life
and just guess who's really in charge?

-I imagined the detachment needed
to stand above someone,
golden gun and ideal banner in hand,
and shoot till the finger went numb.-

Does it matter if I project words
that whip like sticks and cut like stones?
Does it really matter if you can muster
enough <insert uplifting personality facet> to turn from that pie?
Does it matter what I tell myself
about some distorted life
and just who I think is in charge?

-I imagined the selfullness needed
to stand above someone,
golden apple and ideal credentials at hand,
and give till the soul went numb.-

Does it really matter if you use deception,
or underhanded dreams just to achieve an "END"?
Does it matter when you traverse one more burning mile
only to stop from wounded knees made soft from sitting on the shelf?
Does it really matter what they tell me
about how some perfect choices can distort a life
and just how I know who's always been in charge?
now, near the end, I see:

-I imagine an indifference is needed
You'll have to hold them down,
golden needle and desires tattooed in each hand,
and force them into being anything but numb.-
