wonder, is it the STRIVE act that y'all are commenting on? if so, this
bill would criminalize "illegals", both current and future. it would
give birth to a new "bracero" program. it would militarize the borders,
and increase funds to create more detention centers.

i wonder if this bill is passed, who will pick your produce? who will
clean your homes? who will perform the duties that the natives shun
upon?

I'm not sure if its the STRIVE bill or not. I clean my own home. I grow
lots of my own food. And Americans would do some of these jobs if they
paid better. And they would if the law of supply and demand wasn't being
bypassed. JMO

on this issue. personal makes me sick to my stomach. for ten years i

I sat back and watched many times our govt. offering up amnesty to the
illegals back in the 60's & 70's. Many were to "scared" to apply for
citizenship. I have no pity for our system being raped, our taxes

the illegal mexicans who are invading our TOWN. See on 7/1/07 Georgia
will be cutting off all benefits for welfare recipients which is about
70% ALL ILLEGALS. Good on GA! BUT...living just 20 minutes from
the GA state line they are now INVADING MY HOME TOWN. They are calling
themselves "UNDOCUMENTED CITIZENS". They have babys and the babes are
now LEGAL CITIZENS here in AMERICA. Thats just WRONG. Who pays for the
hospital bills for that birth for the ILLEGAL MOTHER? WE DO. The
children are enrolled here and its against the law to DENY THEM AN

Immigration amnesty is starting to annoy me the more I hear about it.
Open welcome to welfare and free legal aid for the illegal immigrants is
quite a lot.

I am not getting any free legal aid, and I am not eligible for any forms
of welfare, in spite of working very hard for a long time and paying an
enormous amount of tax.

I think giving benefits to illegals that are denied to natural citizens
is peculiar, suspicious and perhaps even seditious.

Kennedy has been heralded as one of the architects of the bill. Whether
that is true or not it is the sort of thing I expect from him and those
of his ilk.

The most amazing thing about that is that such large portions of the
voting public approves of the mindset that people like Kennedy are
reelected consistently.

I have to admit that when such large blocks of American voters take such
extreme liberal positions as I see in some areas that I must give some
credit to their way of thought. That is, when large groups feel so
strongly about things, and those large groups are Americans, and many of
them prominent ones, I must show some respect for the ideals they favor.
However when I take a close look at many of the issues I think it is
likely they are not thinking about the matters whatsoever.

It seems to me this immigration bill was fundamentally put together by a
lobbyist somewhere like so many of the bills are these days. I do not
believe for a moment that Kennedy has the energy to put together a 30
page bill on his own, and certainly not one the size of this immigration
bill.

Maybe it is time for the politicians to write their own bills. That way
when they have to answer for the laws they promote they will at least
have thought about them for a few moments and they would know something
about the bills. Perhaps that way we can get a little honesty instead of
bluster and hyperbole.

I do not dislike the immigrants I see here in Houston, nor disrespect
them, but I do not thinking giving them special privileges is
reasonable.

As for whether it is amnesty or not. It is amnesty of you legalize them
and then let them do whatever they want and then,,,, all the benefits.

As for whether it makes it easier for educated Hispanics rather than
migrant workers, I'm doubtful you will see any stemming of the tide of
illegal uneducated workers.

I want to commend the congress for all the hard work, except I doubt
anyone in congress did the work.

This bill with its special provisions for illegals is a sham, not a
reform.
