thank you for making this thread...flowerforyou

i found the memorial beautiful and so touching. i also loved that his family and dear friends were so kind to let his many many fans, me included, to be able to "celebrate his life". my son and i were all tears when his brave daughter spoke and my son is the same age she is... teaching me compassion has no age limit...
i also loved the prayer at the end...just think of the beautiful number of people that were all praying at the same time..flowerforyou

God bless and watch over his family...flowerforyou

Loved this poem by Maya Angelou for Michael

We Had Him......

Beloveds, now we know that we know nothing, now that our bright and shining star can slip away from our fingertips like a puff of summer wind.

Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace. Sing our songs among the stars and walk our dances across the face of the moon.

In the instant that Michael is gone, we know nothing. No clocks can tell time. No oceans can rush our tides with the abrupt absence of our treasure.

Though we are many, each of us is achingly alone, piercingly alone.

Only when we confess our confusion can we remember that he was a gift to us and we did have him.

He came to us from the creator, trailing creativity in abundance.

Despite the anguish, his life was sheathed in mother love, family love, and survived and did more than that.

He thrived with passion and compassion, humor and style. We had him whether we know who he was or did not know, he was ours and we were his.

We had him, beautiful, delighting our eyes.

His hat, aslant over his brow, and took a pose on his toes for all of us.

And we laughed and stomped our feet for him.

We were enchanted with his passion because he held nothing. He gave us all he had been given.

Today in Tokyo, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in Ghana's Black Star Square.

In Johannesburg and Pittsburgh, in Birmingham, Alabama, and Birmingham, England

We are missing Michael.

But we do know we had him, and we are the world.

Wasn't actually my bag back in the day...I was more of a punk.... "sex Pistols", "Black Flag" ,"Millions of Dead Cops" kind of guy...but, you know, there is no denying that Mr. Jackson made an impact on American and global musical culture. I think it was a shame that millions of us ridiculed him over nothing more than wildly media driven conjecture without real substance behind any of the accusations....

well, except for "The Wiz"...I don't care if you are a Micheal Jackson fan or not...that movie sucked....

but, he realized it too and never tried another one.

I am not and have never been one of his screaming fans....but, the guy still deserves the respect and accreditation that the man earned.

Kudos Mr. Jackson.

You did a good job man.

That is such a great poem. I so much prefer to surround myself with love than hate. That poem reminds me to do that.

I saved all the stuff about him these last few days. I just got home a little bit ago. So, I have no tseen it yet. Just a little bit of the end of 20/20. I will begin watching them on Thursday. Dang...gonna be a long mj day.

I love Michael. His music, his love, his soul. An amazing talented and loving man, son, father. Those kids are so cute. Paris is a doll. I hope this works out for the best for all.
Thanks for all the links guys. I will watch those as well.
