Topic: Black spot on fish | |
---|---|
My giant danio has a black spot on his side by in the upper middle part of his body (near his top fin). What could it be? I'm trying to look t up now. I just noticed the spot. He seems to be doing very well besides the spot. I'm not sure if it's on the outside or inside of him, also it looks a little swollen, but I could be wrong.

could be a type of fungus... I'd call a local aquarium shop or pet store and explain it to them. Maybe they can tell you more about it.

Ya know maybe you should seperare him from the others till ya know what it is He's the only fish in the tank. I can't get a good look at it though, it may be a swollen spot or black spot can't really tell. There's no change in his behaviour, although I'm noticing he swimming near the bottom a bit more and he's hovering by the heater a little, then swimming around and going back to the heater. |

Is the temp right for this type fish
And the ph balance? |

You can call a pet shop or aqaurium or even search google for advice but I would'nt wait to long ..a friend of mine lost almost his whole aquarium to ich. (I do believe that starts with white spots though)

The temp. is 75F I did a water test today and the ph and ammonia were a bit high, so I'm doing a 25% water change now, waiting for the new water to get room temp. now. I added Aquasafe and EasyBalance to the new water.
I contacted Tetra for help, they suggested adding Lifeguard, but I'm not sure if I want to do that right now. Would aquarium salt help? |

(I do believe that starts with white spots though) From what I've read there's a type of ich that starts with a black spot, but I think it only happens in salt water fish. |

Is the temp right for this type fish preferably 140 degrees f Actually for LIVE trpoical fish, 75F is preferred. It's a good thing I did my research. Just thought I'd clear that up in case someone reads and gets the wrong idea. |

no, you want the fish atleast 140 degrees before applying the tartar sauce Giant Danios are basically just big minows, they only get to be about 4 inches long (6 inches max.). But, I like my fish, he's really alot of fun. He'll even play with my cat! My cat will sit on the floor and watch him, and paw at the bottom of the tank (that's as far as he can reach), and the fish will swim in the front, at the bottom and dart back and forth, as if he's playing with the cat. |

I had a problem with my little danios, and it tunred out it was something called "postules".
Or, it could be the advanced stages of whats literally called "ick" its got a long name I cant pronounce. If you goto the pet store there are many kinds of medicine you can treat the water with, one will die the water blue, one green, one yellow.. You have to make sure you dont use too much, and keep track of how much used, and change the water as directed. Good luck. Poor little fishies, ad you. It happens to the best of us. Much love. |
