I've found that meeting people online is alot better than in person. Online, you don't have much to go on and you really have to get to know the person before meeting them. This allows for a more personal relationship, rather than seeing them upfront and going based on looks. Sure, you can get a picture of someone online but even still, the time you actually meet, it will have alot more meaning and you will be alot closer for just talking online first. I've met 2 different people online and while both turned out to be friends in the long run, I'm very happy that there is real people out there, willing to take a chance and go with their feelings rather than looks. Now if we can only stop these spammers from ruinging what is good about these sites and stop forcing away people due to them.

OK....BUT....and here's the thing....starting from real life, I never got mixed up with an arsonist, a phony bank teller, a phony kidnap victim, a newspaper columnist who wanted me to write her column for her.... Oh, I have a hunch that the people on THIS site are much more rational and sane than the nine people I actually DID meet from other sites. Although I probably should add that I have absolutely nothing to base that on, other than speculation, innuendo, and three-out-of-five on the coin flip. |
