I was once shy, I am now reserved... which is basically just shy until I'm in conversation. So for this, nobody really approaches me or talks to me unless I remark on something first. So lemme tell ya "hello" doesnt do much of anything. A question is the best... a question deters a person from thinking inward and helps to forget any personal thoughts, if even just for a moment. Give em something that takes long enough to listen to so there's room for noticing a smile, fashion, etc. i'm gonna have to ask you to stop being adorable. i can't seem to stop compulsively perving you. i know, right? i just perved him, too |

you know.. if i don't know you're shy i can scare the hell out of you easy because i'm very outgoing. extrovert and all. but if i have a heads up... i'll say hi. or skip hi completely and make a short quiet comment on whatever the situation may be. try to make you smile because i know you won't be barrel laughing in public. let that pin drop. but keep the conversation rolling in spurts. too much scares a shy person. you gotta give them breathers. :) trust me. i know.. being all out in the open all the time has let me learn over the years how to deal with people who aren't like me. and you gotta respect the shyness. I'm extremely outgoing as well. If they're just somewhat shy, and not painfully shy, sometimes we boisterous, outgoing types can kinda "shake 'em up" into saying something. In a nutshell, that's how I met my ex-wife. If they are one of the painfully shy, though, I recommend what "bobbysocks" said above. [Although, to be honest, if you're THAT outgoing, and they're THAT shy, to be more than friends is probably a recipe for disaster.] |
