Doing pretty good, just extracted a Brown Recluse spider out of my room...lil bugger was in me work pants! Outside somewhere now...wonder how many more are in my basement. omg you're kidding? holy cow... Ohhhhhhh my fault huh Terry... Have quite a few spiders in my room, all of them I've seen are harmless. That was the first time I've ever seen a Brown Recluse in my room, had to get that bugger outside...I can deal with spider bites, but not bites that will give me gangrene! |

gangrene? I thought those suckers could kill a person?

gangrene? I thought those suckers could kill a person? They can, but I would have it taken care of before that. The bite spreads and looks a lot like gangrene, it isn't gangrene but it eats away at the flesh. Sometimes requiring amputation just to stop the venom...nasty bit of a bug bite, eh? |
Yeah I'd say... That's one spider I never want to run into...

Not really. The venom in Brown Recluse spiders can result in some pretty serious necrotizing faceitis, which is essentially where your skin starts to rot away. Even worse is that the anti-venom can be MUCH worse, even resulting in amputation of the affected limb or worse.
I know of one case in particular where a lady was bitten, given anti-venom and LOST all four of her limbs. Pretty messed up stuff. I supposed the venom can be deadly to the right person, though. |

Oc you know that I'd be glad to hug you, I was just veering away from any group molesting
((((chevy)))) ((((fear)))) |

oh crap, I don't remember that for some reason I always thought it was death... schnikies...
Well... the venom of a Brown Recluse IS pretty fairly messed-up, but it won't necessarily kill outright like what snake venom can do.
Now if you want venom that can and WILL kill you, try gettin' tagged by a "box jellyfish". That stuff is TRULY horrendous crap.

I didn't think there was anti-venom for the Recluse, tetanus shot is popular and pain killers. At least in the states that is the usual for a Recluse bite. Just have to know what bit you so you can treat it quickly before the bite spreads. If it spreads then they have to remove the lesions, which can lead to amputation. |

Well that's an interesting bit of information...

Well I've been properly and completely reassured of why I should be afraid of them...

Well I've been properly and completely reassured of why I should be afraid of them... Most likely it wouldn't kill you, but it would be a crappy time. |

There IS anti-venom for Brown Recluse venom, but it's gotta be taken rather quickly for it to work. Otherwise, the necrotizing faceitis will set in, and there's pretty much not a whole lot to do at that point. I'd rather just squash the little buggers before they get the chance to stick me, though. |

I saw a butterfly today...

Anything that bites and makes your bits fall off is BAD |

Be careful, Prncs. Butterflies are venomous, too!
