Topic: long winded profiles.

It never ceases to amaze me how most men will just respond to a picture and never read the profile before contacting someone!

Hi Pats! flowerforyou

Hey, how did you get that dog to clean up after himself? I've been trying to teach mine for years!

All I hear is, "I don't have opposable thumbs, blah, blah, blah!"

What is too long? Too short? I consider mine on the short side, yet over half of the folks that write -I like your profile- later when talking to them show that they never even read the words. So, again I ask what is too long or too short. To me its all subjective to the lazyness of the reader. JMO

If someone tells me they like my profile, I usually ask what they liked about it. Some can't say, since they never bothered to read it.

You have that too! I love it! Amazing, isn't it? tongue2

MelodyGirl your profile isn't all that long, and damnit to hell I smoke! Oh well, just another person I can cross of the list.

Crossing off a list? Are we supposed to make a list?

Damn, I left my pen at the office! slaphead tongue2

Thanks for believing my profile is 'not all that long'.

There are times when I think I will cut it down to almost nothing but then I remember when I first joined -- and I received contacts from many guys that are not my type. I hate writing 'thanks, but no thanks' messages (to be polite and acknowledge their message). It’s inevitable that I also get back the “You’re a b*tch” reply! sad2 I love it when I suddenly become a b*tch simply because I am not attracted to 'them'. slaphead

The way my profile is now, I only receive a few messages a week and they are very compatible with me!

Yea, damn the luck with your genes! And yea, my list is long, but I'll widdle it down to under 1 billion later this year.

why do some people write a book? dunno about anyone else but that sure makes me click out in a hurry.

I'd rather someone write a long profile than someone who only bothers to write one sentence.

Yea, but some people do go overboard. I want someone that's a,b,c,d,e,f,g,,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p and q, that also likes basket weaving. Sometimes you start to read and get interested, but by the end, you're thinking wow, glad I read all that. Meh, I like short and sweet. I like my profile, because it gives a little, but has a few things that scream, WTF?

Most of the "short and sweet" profiles I read don't say much at all. In order for me to want to contact someone, there needs to be something there that makes me want to talk to them.

My genes? Oh, because I am tall? smitten I didn't know if you meant, "Damn my jeans!" You don't like DKNY?

DKNY does annoy me, and yes tall women make me involuntarily drool. Makes dating hard I tell ya.

Yea I get that, but most are cookie cutter profiles, few have unique things in that scream, "Damnit, you need to email me!".

Cookie cutter profiles usually have nothing that makes me want to email them. Those would be the ones that are all the same, such as "ask me what you want to know" and things like that. I like the ones who at least put in a little more effort than that.

I took the effort to actually go out and translate a phrase into 14 different languages and plan to go as high as 40 when I get the time. But yea, the ask me anything profiles are amusing. I usually ask them "What's the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" They either have no idea how to respond, and if they respond with, "what? African or European?", that's even better.

I don't know. Translating a phrase is just taking up space to me. If that works for you though, that's cool.

It wasn't hard after I showed him how a bear hibernates for the winter! The threat of a butt plug can be a very motivating tool.surprised

*shrugs* Short, long, doesn't matter to me. It's what you say and how you present yourself that will draw me in. I've read short profiles that totally amused me and long ones that left me saying, huh?! I do tend to believe that many folks reading profiles have the attention span of gnats, so something short and sweet with a dash of humor I think is a good combination.
