My daughters, who live in Connecticut are coming in for the weekend. We have a busy one planned. It is my younger nephew Alex's high school graduation tomorrow and we are going to a concert on Sunday.
My older nephew Eric (Alex's brother) goes to school at Northeastern which is one of the finest engineering universities in the country and located in Boston. The plan was for them to meet at the ferry in New London, Ct and take it across together to Long Island. My nephew told my bro-in-law that he was taking the 9:00PM Sea Jet (makes the trip in about half the time). So my sister, both bro-in-laws, and myself begin the 55 mile drive out to Orient Point, Long Island. We get a phone call from Eric who is getting on the regular ferry which is scheduled to leave at 8:45PM. Apparently this brilliant 20 year old young man who is a double engineering major and works at MIT's Lincoln Lab did not read the ferry schedule properly. The 9:00PM Sea Jet only runs on Saturdays. The 8:45PM regular ferry is the last one out and since my daughters had no shot at getting there in time, I was dropped off back at my car and will have to make the 55 mile drive out there alone, at 6AM, instead of in pleasant company tonight. I have the link to the ferry listed in my favorites. I did not double check the most basic of facts and paid the price for my oversight. Have any of you overlooked something basic which makes you question where the f*ck your brains were? |

ahh thank you, I was wondering if they had already left to catch this ferry you were talking about. At least they didn't start out and end up stranded somewhere.

It use to happen to me all the time as a mechanic, i would spend time trying to diagnose a problem thinking it was something complicated, when i forgot to look into the simple stuff first!

I'm still shaking my head over this. It takes me less than a minute to verify the schedule.

Yes, I have. I found myself apologizing up one side and down the other without having a full story once recently. Should have had my eyes opened. Course, that is what I have You for

Yes this syndrome is called "thinking outside the box" and the answer was in the box, haha

So none of the kids got in tonight? You're getting all of them tomorrow morning? Sorry...I'm on drugs tonight. (But gawd are they awesome!)

No, Eric is on the regular Ferry, but the girls will be at Orient Point 7:45 tomorrow morning. The drive is due east and if the sun is out it is brutal. There are times when you are totally blind driving into the rising sun. Ah well, it's my own stupid fault. |
