Yep, I figured that. I'm not taking it out of the safe deposit box unless I can get at least a decent amount out of it. I sold my wedding set to a jeweler long ago and what we paid about $4k for I got $1100.. You never get what they're worth.. Your best bet is Craigslist or Ebay but the problem there is if someone wants to meet you rather than you send to them after payment... I wouldn't meet anyone that could be dangerous... If you have the certificates it's much easier to sell them... |

I imagine I have the paperwork around here somewhere. I'm glad I asked that question, I didn't realize you could resell them to the jewelry store. Thanks y'all!

From personal experience I would steer clear of these Cash For Gold outfits. I took a bunch of gold jewelry to one and came out with about $300.00, paid a bill and now I wish I had my jewelry back.

well alright. some hate us, some love us and some think you pay the electric bill if you dont make a profit.
had a guy bring in an ak we sold him and asked to borrow what he paid for it with the price tag still on it. now thats funny!! anyway, my intent was to find other pawnbrokers, but for those that are here if you have any questions send them directly to me. i am a manager for the largest pawnshop in memphis, its an old target store and yes we use it all. we have stores from here to new orleans and one soon in little rock. have a great day oh yea, we loan money when the bank wont, guess that helps some people especially with the economy the way it is. |

yeah pawn shops are kind of an institution with me
pawnshops fed me when the oilfield went bust in the 80's I lost a few things but it was my fault not the pawn shops fault. you get, what? 90 days? to retrieve your property. and even then there is like a six month period of higher interest where you can still get it out. at least in Texas. and you're not selling the property, merely taking a loan on it. so don't expect more than 30% of its value and if you want a place to get a good starter guitar fairly cheap a pawn shop is the way to go I pick up speakers and such there all the time |

Pawn shops are a busy, like any other.
Owners need to make a profit, to keep the doors open. They are required by law to keep accurate records. They are as honest as the people running them. I respect anyone that works a business. |

Pawn shops just rip off people hard up for cash telling them their items are worth next to nothing and giving them a few dollars for something they mark up 20 times what they paid for it.The majority of that stuff they sell is stolen property and they buy it even if they know it is stolen.Got a gold rolex? They will give you 20 bucks and then sell if for $300.Back in my teen years I was stupid enough to sell some of my items to a pawn shop. One item I had was a very expensive piece of musical equipment that was new in the box that I bought at a auction.I walked by a pawn shop and in the window they were selling a used version of what I had just bought for $525.00.I took mine to that pawn shop and asked him how much he would give me for it.He said it was only worth about $40.00 and would give me $15.00 for it.I asked him to walk with me and showed him the same model in his window and told him he was nothing but liar and a thief. I don't support pawn shops and hope they are all outlawed one day. People usually turn to pawnshops because otherwise they can't sell their "Bolexes". Besides, I think it's very good business to buy low and sell high. |

I wouldn't put an ad in the paper because I wouldn't want anyone coming to my house to look at it. There is a place here that does buy pieces, from estate sales etc. I should check them out. Beats swapping it for deer meat. |

Diamonds are like any other commodity, and their value depreciates immediately as soon as you buy it and walk out the door with it. Doesn't matter if it was mined and cut on the same day, and sold for $1,000, as soon as you walk out that door, it's worth $500. |

True but I'd still probably get a better price in a jewelry store.

So that means you want to give me a deer for my ring?????? During the early settlers time, that would have been a very romantical offering... |
