Some people swear by melatonin, is natural, your body makes it, but some
people don't have enough in their systems.

Some people like chamomile tea, is calming. Relaxation tapes help some
people.

Heck, I use clonazepam (a tranquilizer) my doc put me on it while my dad
kept the TV blasting all night long and I couldn't sleep and was losing
it with only 2-3 hours of sleep a night and trying to work - that stuff
works, will knock out an elephant, good stuff. Lorazpam does too, and
no hangover from it. Tried Valium once and felt drugged the next day,
but don't feel that with the clonazepam.

Warm bath, soothing music, try laying in bed and start tensing and
relaxing the muscles in your body one at a time. Starting with your
toes, tense them, hold for a few seconds and then relax, and say the
word relax as you do it. Then your feet, then ankles, then calves, then
knees, all the way up, fingers, hands, arms. Sounds silly but it does
work. Helps you relax your muscles and is distracting I think, takes
your mind off what might be bothering you. I was taught this in a
women's group, but give it a try. When you get to the face, is funny,
but do your chin, lips, nose, eyelids, forehead, so on. Then just take
deep breaths and try to relax your whole body and see if you can feel
the tension flow away. Give it a try. Hope it helps.
