Oh btw...I forgot to mention John Lennon. Yeah, his death was a real shocker, too.

Kinda like Mother Thersa dieing close to the so called "Princess Diana". Mother Thersa got 15 minutes of coverage while Diana got weeks of coverage.

Okayyyyyyyyyyy back to the topic...

I'd forgotten about that. I do remember it now. Maybe because Mother Theresa was an older lady her death was more expected and Princess Diana's was a shock?

Celebrety death is just another reason to continue the drama.

when a celebbrity dies, i usally remember the stuff I like, but most of the time I am just like bummer and move on. alot of poeple will be talking and crying and arguing with each other like Micheal was there best friend. DRAMA, as a gay friend used to say. tonight I allowed myself to be came part of it (guilty) but it was more in fun because of the waves it created. It is so easy to become caught up in all whirlwind that ignites these topics.

Okay.

But the question on THIS thread was why does one death over shadow another as in the examples given. Is it who is more popular? Better known? If it was sudden or a long illness, etc

There is a special on CBS right now honoring both Farrah and Michael.

I'm not watching it either. Just wanted to say neither one is being over-shadowed. In fact, many of the stations are airing a tribute to both of them. I'm sorry Ed McMahon's death, however, is being lost in all this.

I think they are being over shadowed. IF Michael had not died today so suddenly, the news, Anderson Cooper, Larry King would all be doing segments on Farrah Fawcett

Mother Teresa was an old lady? She spent her life help hing the sick and poor and slept on the streets with them. Dianna was bar hopping and was killed by a drunk driver, her own. apples and oranges to me.

Farrah, Michael and ED all mad a living off the public. I am not the public. Peace and no ill wishes here, just stating the facts.

I meant no disrespect when I said Mother Theresa was an older lady. That was just a fact of her age. Somehow, those losses aren't as surprising, as a 37 yr old woman killed in a car accd. Or a 50 yr old man dropping dead of cardiac arrest. That to me is the scary thing. 50 is not old. Makes you wonder what happened.

No it don't....makes me regret that I never got to hump Mother Theresa! (I am positive she would have been a good sport about it!)

Not quite. She was not "bar-hopping". She had just arrived in Paris with Dodi, and was returning back to his house after dinner. Henri Paul, the driver, who had been instructed to drive by Dodi, and was the acting security manager of the Hotel Ritz Paris (owned by Dodi's father), that was intoxicated.
