So far the Democrat primary looks like an affirmative action platform.
Their strongest two candidates are Hillary, whose major appeal is being a woman, and Obama, whose major attraction is being black. If we are going to elect someone solely because of their race or gender, that's either or racist or sexist. Have we become so shallow? Ron Paul took a firm position of a Democratic candidate in a Republican debate by crying the liberal (liberal rather than democrat) party line that the US was the cause of its own unpopularity around the world because of its interventionist policies. While there may be some truth that the US has created problems with its intervention, it may also be true that the world creates problems that necessitate intervention by the US. So we have a chicken and egg situation. Which came first? For him to strongly take only the one side of that issue is to overlook any values in our foreign policy endeavors, and as such is counter to the interests of the United States, in my opinion. Ron Paul is out for me. John Edwards is a tart. Get real. Not too sure I like any of the candidates at this point. Hey I like it that some discussion is being given to the immigration issue in the last few days. I'm posting this here because I can't respond to Fanta's topic because he is wearing that tutu again. |
