But some people aren't comfortable with the idea of an alternative that is is still addictive. E-cigarettes currently exist in a legal gray zone--they have not been officially approved or banned by the FDA, but they are still commonly sold in the US. But the FDA has recently hinted that it will soon make a decision:
"We're concerned about the potential for addiction to and abuse of these products," says FDA spokeswoman Rita Chappelle. "Some people may mistakenly perceive these products to be safer alternatives to conventional tobacco use." The agency has opened an investigation and has refused to allow e-cigarettes, e-cigars and e-pipes to cross the border because they're considered new drugs that require FDA approval. -US NEWS& WORLD REPORT |

I have the E cigarette and you can buy flavors without nicotine.

The thing about them is if you smoke a lot they are not that great. You can take a few drags and then the light on the end blinks and it does not work well. This allerts you not to get to much nicotine.

This allerts you not to get to much nicotine. There are loads of different types of models, i guess some will work better than others. From what i can gather the E-Cig can go wrong in two main ways, either the battery will fail, or the atomiser will. But they can both be replaced separately anyway. On top of that, you only really need to use the E-Cig so many times for you to make your money back on them anyway. So if it breaks, you could just go buy a new one. |

I have to say thanks Dan for starting this thread. My Aunt had lung cancer 10 years ago and is in remission. But she still smokes. I hate that fact. This sounds like an alternative that will keep those cancer causing chemicals out of her system. Since I cant get her to quit smoking regular cigs.

This sounds like an alternative that will keep those cancer causing chemicals out of her system. Since I cant get her to quit smoking regular cigs. No problem. I only found out about them myself yesterday. I still cant believe i had never heard about them before. This to me sounds like one of those products that comes onto the market every once in a while that is revolutionary. Just the revolution hasnt quite started yet. I was asked earlier why i had only bought my mum one and not myself, and it was a good question, i will order myself one very shortly. There are a lot of people that dont know about these yet so the word needs to be spread. |

Until yesterday i was unaware of their existence. My housemate had bought one and i had a go and was really impressed. It feels like you are taking a toke on a real cigarette. It even sounds the same. The end lights up when you take a pull. You even get a scratch on the back of the throat, and when you exhale there is 'smoke'. Best of all there is nicotine in it so you still get your fix, just without all the horrible tar and toxins thats in real cigarettes. Gonna look for a good link to a site that sells them, I am gonna buy my mum one straight away. Anybody else tried them out? No though I have heard of them. How much more expensive than real ciggarettes are they? |

Thanks Darrel, im gonna be buying a starter kit tonight and see how i go with it. I wasnt particularly planning on giving up smoking but i still think i might as well get one.
