When I was about 2 there was a thunderstorm I was scared, so my dad come an got me. We went into the kitchen got me my sippy cup fresh from the dish washer, poured ice cold milk an got oreos, we sat up giggling eating cookies an having milk. That memory will always stay with me. My dad remembers that night as well.

I love Oreo moments! I can picture the two of you, in the middle of night, sitting at the kitchen table with milk mustaches!

On my father's 75th birthday I gave him a card and inside I said - "Dad, I've made some bad choises in my life, ones that I am not entirely proud of, but one thing I will always be proud of is to be your son!" He hugged me which was the first time he has ever hugged me. That was a tear jerker of a moment! :cry:

I've lost a dad and an adopted dad. Neither one were very good, so I post this in a sarcastic, humorous way. I am sarcastic.

that was about the 50th photo i took; i think they both were getting rather impatient at that point!

~~~~
certainly not my favourite memory but one which shows my father's courage and determination: my dad's leg was crushed between two car bumpers about 30 years ago. he was incredibly lucky that a nurse was in the parking lot and took off her (or his) belt and made a tourniquet. his artery had ruptured.
the police came to my house to get my mother (which isn't a very good sign). he pulled through, but the doctor said he'd never walk again.
he sure did though, and never once did he b!tch and complain 'why me?'
no man that i've ever met has quite managed to measure up to my dad. he is absolutely my hero and has never, ever once let me down my entire life. his word is his honour, and he says what he means and means what he says. and my mother complements him in every way, especially lending tact where he has none, haha.
I didn't meet my Dad until I was 28 yrs old. My absolute best an most fondest memory of him is the first time we met. It was 4am an I had just driven 14 hrs straight from Plattsburgh NY to Port Huron MI. I walked thru the door tired an exhausted. He grabbed me up in those big ole arms of his an squeezed me so tight I actually couldn't breath. We both burst into tears an we just stood there an held one another fer what seemed like eternity. I had him in my life fer 11 precious years before a stroke took him. He more than made up fer the time we missed in my growin up years. I love u an miss u Peeps.flowers
My Dad died when I was 9 yrs old. One of my best memories is going to the restaurant where he worked, going back into the kitchen, seeing big ol' lobsters, being fussed over by the waitresses. Being carried by him when I fell off my bike, then off to the hospital, my eye was swollen shut.
My step father is a great guy too. He put up with some grief from me as a teen-ager. He took care of my Mom when she was sick, was always there for us.
My best memories are my dad teaching me to work on his race cars.. How to rebuild an engine and what everything did to make it run... I used to sit in those cars thinking one day I would drive.. I did but not till many yrs later and he was not around to see it...also of him telling us how he and the guys in his unit ( he was a LT.in the 511th airborne) jumped into Los Banos Prison ( a POW camp south of Manila) and they got over 2,000 people out.. He was my hero..thanks for the memories, Dad..flowerforyou
