anyone who thinks or says that appearances dont matter is highly delusional.

looks and appearances get your foot in the door with girls or guys, but once that is over, its on you to keep him/her interested. thats when personality and a sense of humor and prowess in conversation comes into play. and it only gets more complicated from there.

yall wanna break? anthony robbins "unlimmited power", and "awaken the giant from within". it works, and if i had this ten years ago, i'd be not just rich, but wealthy in all aspects!!!! the most prolific book i think, of the twentieth century, "How to win friends and influence people" has shortcuts and ways to deal with about every situation i can think of. i found out how much i didn't know, and refined what i had which was quite a bit, and mostly common sense, and turned it to work for me......always humble enough to learn, i am!!!drinker drinker

D.O., it isn't even about that, really -- I've been involved in a lot of relationships (admittedly, all bad), so it's never been a question of "finding" someone -- I'm just tired of always "finding" (or being "found" by) the wrong ones.

It turns out that the ultimate agenda for everyone I've been with is that they want to CHANGE everything about me (isn't it odd how "I love everything about you!" goes to "I have to CHANGE everything about you!" in 90 days or less, or YOUR MONEY BACK!) and I'm not really looking to be changed in that way.

The "goat" thing is just sort of a running gag about how women are always trying to "domesticate" me -- playing off Nietzsche's 1880s concept of the "herd animal," I use a goat as the symbol of this sort of unwanted domesticatory attempt.

I really don't think of it as me putting myself down -- I'm just recognizing the reality that there isn't anybody here who embodies the things I need in a partner. I'm a writer, not a goat. And I don't want to be a goat.

For the record, I've BEEN married, and it was horrible. Not gonna do THAT again!

I know I have preferences for height, looks, and size ect. that might get a guy a little more notice but it is and always will be how a man treats me and others over physical characteristics in the long run. Maybe that sounds like I am trying to be PC but it is true. So far the great love of my life was not most of my physical preferences, and I was absolutely not even looking but getting to know him how he was and how our life was together made him the the cats pajama's. I am just hoping that wasn't just one lucky moment but giving a guy a chance to be a gentleman and shine in his own personal way. I believe there are a lot of great guys out there and some of them are even on Mingle. Actually I think there are quite a few on Mingle. My suggestion would be don't be discouraged just talk to some people and find out who they really are.
