Once upon a time there was a girl with a wandering mind and blissful smile
Heart in the sky and eye on the horizon the girl pondered what was to be done Horrible to think about such things, but necessary to her survival She took in the fluffy white clouds, trees and waters in the valley all around her Wondering and hoping it would not be the last time in her peaceful valley Where she lay for hours in solitude and reflection so many times Inhaling sharply, to squelch regret and uncertainty She closes her eyes and tries to conjure what it will feel like when the deed is done Unfathomable, is what she realizes Until it is over she will not know As she opens her eyes she notices the haze starting to roll up the valley floor The Sun tries without success to shine through the black clouds now Watching the suns struggles to repress the darkness her resolve is fierce At her perch atop the highest hill in the valley she could see the approaching storm His tall frame seemed to swallow the ground as he calmly strode forwards to meet her She saw his big boots, dark clothing and the broadsword he held at his side Saw the set of his jaw and the pendant she gave him around his neck The charm for eternal life swung in unison with his stride and her tenacity wavered Only to be solidified when he stopped suddenly several feet from her Eyes blazing with the knowledge of what was to come He knew very well what it felt like when it was all over And she knew there was no going back from this moment Sighing deeply as she lifted her hair from her eyes and her sword from where it rested at her side He called her name, the one given to her as a contrary child, and she braced herself for what was next Looking deep into the eyes of the man who taught her about honour and heard the words he spoke ‘You know there can only be one.’ He spoke firmly ‘Write about me in good taste. And remember me well.’ Not trusting herself to speak without emotion she simply nodded Even though she wished there was another way, he had made his decision As she left the valley some time later, spent from emotional and physical pains She clutched in her hand the last precious part of the man she called Uncle Tears rolling down her face as she realized there really only could be One. |

I can't get Highlander out of my head reading this one, I could be wrong...but this does sound a hell of a lot like Highlander.
Good all the same, it is organized appropriately and well written. The imagery is clear and the words used well. Good write Sunny. |
