Well... we live in an incredibly fast-paced, cell-phone/IM/text message/internet society nowadays. People have totally forgotten the lost art of "courting" someone, let alone taking time to find out if the person they're dating is actually worth your time. Everybody wants the instant gratification and don't think about the future.

So the chances of gettin' hooked up with someone who is TOTALLY wrong are greater as a result.

So yeah- people by and large probably haven't been giving people a chance.
