I just listened to a radio program about 'romantic love' and the difficulty in keeping it alive in a relationship. Then this older gal calls in and says that during the Great Depression, all the movies, songs, were about Love, Love Love. Looking deep into someone eyes, and seeing them from across the room, etc, etc. She said she was so full of that crap she didn't recognize real love when it came into her life. She was waiting for this fantasy to come true. |

MM....that's interesting. So the question then would be, define "real love". Serious answers. I mean, I think we all want enough of the spark and sizzle to keep it going but real life does set in. People have to get up to go to work, babies cry, people get sick, life gets messy. I want someone that thinks I hung the moon and treats me as such, while knowing when the icky real life stuff happens, he does not flinch one bit.
And yes it is reciprocal. I have already done that. |

I just count myself ahead if she hasn't driven me crazy within the first couple of weeks trying to change me because she likes me for who I am.

MM....that's interesting. So the question then would be, define "real love". Serious answers. I mean, I think we all want enough of the spark and sizzle to keep it going but real life does set in. People have to get up to go to work, babies cry, people get sick, life gets messy. I want someone that thinks I hung the moon and treats me as such, while knowing when the icky real life stuff happens, he does not flinch one bit. As long as all those same things are reciprocated, I can agree with this as well. Of course they should be reciprocated! I am only speaking from the woman's point of view. All of it goes both ways! |

If she likes you for who and what you are, and are good enough for her at the point that you decide to continue the relationship, then you should still be good enough later, and she shouldn't NEED to try to change you. If she accepts you as you originally are, there should be no reason for change later (to suit her liking). By the same token, a man should not try to change the lady he has chosen, either, for those same reasons....although, you rarely (if ever) hear of a man attempting to do that, much less be successful at it.

Its how they respond to the real life stuff, goes to work, makes good money, stayed up with my girls when sick. When the car breaks down, putting aside their wants for the good of the family. etc. etc. My daughters were laughing how when a couple of months back, when my youngest(15) got sick in the middle of the night. And she puked, big time. She said, "but Dad, you just cleaned it up, and didn't bat an eye" I did that stuff in the middle of the night so many times when I was married. "But I am just not happy" WTF????? |

I've said this to an ex-g/f of mine, all the time. She continued to use make up, eventually figured out she had somebody else too. Lol..I could have taken the hint and just be logical and tell it to myself: "I guess she isn't putting on the make up for me". |

Then drop him off on the side of the road, don't call for a month...then when you do be sure to tell him all you can offer at that moment in time is friendship, of course say all that right before your hot date with the new guy. Yeah, you don't really want him, you want the fairy tale story, the golden road home. Don't forget to top it with a "I love you" once in awhile or he may not believe you, then right before you do shatter what soul he once had...make sure you remind him that it isn't him, it is you. That one always makes us feel better. Sorry, I don't deal in giving people hope anymore, tried that...as you can probably tell it didn't work out so well... |

A man that will call out of the blue just to say, I love you and I am so happy to have you in my life. A man that will put on your dress, so you can mark the hem. (OK.. That would be a bit too much)

A Man that refuses to yell, But is able to sit down and talk over any situation. |
