I was wonderin if anyone could help me out about what gettin the endorsement takes and is like for the test and stuff. And also anyone whod like to help me decide between my choices for a bike would be very helpful

I've got my motorcycle endorsement, but I'm sure it varies from state to state...

And as far as what your choice should be...if you've gotta ask that question you should prolly stick with the Jap crap...laugh

There is a saying:
If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand. If you understand, no explanation is necessary...

Hi, I just took the course offered by Harley and it was 8 hrs of bookwork, 2 evenings-3 hrs ea and 1 evening-2 hrs and 2 full days of riding in a big parking lot on a course set up there.. Rode from 8 am until 3:30 pm for two days... You will be sore, believe me.... I had ridden my own before but it has been at least 28 yrs... now I'm looking for a bike... good luck, be careful and have fun!bigsmile
You can also take the course thru your local Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Don't start off on something too big is my first advice - like getting an R1 or GSXR 1000 for your first bike. They're too fast for beginners. Actually cruisers and standard bikes are best for learning.

Second, get all the proper gear with your bike; figure that into your budget. And don't ride without it!!! If you'd like, I can show you pictures of what happens when you don't wear it.

Third, take a training course. Spending a couple hundred learning to ride someone else's bike is a lot cheaper than crashing your own.

And 4th, good luck on your exams.

Ride safe.

For me, the best part of going to the track was making something go faster than it would have when it came off the assembly line. Anyone can buy a jap bike and run fast.

I've been looking at picking up a bike for a while now. Two things are keeping me from crotch rockets. First would be my back problems. Second, I'm a couple inches too short to be comfortable.

For those reasons, I've got my eye on an HD Iron 883, or maybe a Triumph Speedmaster.

Harley does make a sportster that would run well at the track. It would also handle a road course track day pretty well.

i would suggest going and getting the pamphlet from the dmv

as for me neither

laugh

i prefir the shaft drive venture i have over either a crotch rocket or the harley

i need something that does not vibrate the crap out of me due to a medical condition

all tho i am seriously thinkin of down sizing my venture 12oo to down around 500 or 650 if i can find a shaft drive one that is not overly expensive i know they have 750s but i would like to get i little lighter than that

only time will tell

good luck and remember they do not see you all the time drive like you are invisible

That's the spirit! Get your first bike and start drag racing it right away. You're gonna die in no time.

I'll take a 2 day, 8 hour course. I was told to get a small used bike till I was comfortable rising, since I'll probably drop it numerous times. I joined a bikers email group and they've been terrific about answering my questions.

You should be able to download the handbook online from your local dmv

Take the rider course. If not at the Harley dealer then at the community college.

Buy a used bike. They are cheap and no matter what you buy, you will want something different later.

Take the advanced rider course. You will learn things the bike can do which can save your life and are a ton of fun. You need your own bike to take the course.

Once you get some experience, knowledge, and have a good understanding of the differences between bikes, trade your bike in of something you will like better and ride that for awhile.

Repeat.

If you really get "into" motorcycling, you will probably want a Harley. I've had the big Jap stuff and some cool British stuff, but I like my Wide Glide the best of all.

Shrugs. Good for you. My ego is such that I can admit it might happen. Won't worry about it.

I can say, however, talking to some older bikers, its a lot like riding a horse. You haven't really ridden until you've fallen off, and gotten right back on, be it flesh or iron.
