We have all heard of netiquette but I would expand that out a bit to all technology in general. What is rude and what is not? For example: Is rude to interrupt a IM conversation for a non-urgent phone call?
What do you think? What other questions do you have about technology and etiquette? |

I do not ignore phone calls if I'm IMing someone. I might tell the person I'm IMing that I have a phone call and I'll be back when I can.

I refused to do it. |

I work in retail sales and have been helping customers when they get a call and they expect me to stand there and wait for them to finish their call.

If you don't want to answer a phone call while you're online, then don't. No one has ever had an issue if I've said "I'll be right back, I have a phone call." Though, I'm guessing you're comparing it to call waiting. That's something I don't use. But when I'm chatting with people online, I don't stop what I'm doing otherwise. I may be having more than one conversation. It's a bit different than a regular phone call. |

i have walked out of more than one business when i was there explaining what i was looking for and they answered the phone and started talking to them about what they were looking for if thay say i will be with you shortly that is one thing but to set my business aside for them, sorry i will go elsewhere |
