We have all heard of netiquette but I would expand that out a bit to all technology in general. What is rude and what is not? For example: Is rude to interrupt a IM conversation for a non-urgent phone call?
What do you think? What other questions do you have about technology and etiquette?

I do not ignore phone calls if I'm IMing someone. I might tell the person I'm IMing that I have a phone call and I'll be back when I can.

Phone calls are the most brutal interruptions created by man. If you are in line in person and the clerk's phone rings the caller has jumped the queue without an excuse and without waiting his turn

All phone calls are private. If you have to take a call especally on a cell phone in public take outside.

If you are having a conversation with someone, it rude to interrupt that conversation to begin one with someone else. It doesn't matter what the medium for the conversion is.

I have heard some interesting public conversations made via cell phones.

I once worked at a portrait studio and was expected to interrupt a photo shoot to answer the phone. I refused to do it.

I work in retail sales and have been helping customers when they get a call and they expect me to stand there and wait for them to finish their call.

If you don't want to answer a phone call while you're online, then don't. No one has ever had an issue if I've said "I'll be right back, I have a phone call." Though, I'm guessing you're comparing it to call waiting. That's something I don't use. But when I'm chatting with people online, I don't stop what I'm doing otherwise. I may be having more than one conversation. It's a bit different than a regular phone call.
