Men can respond of course to but I want to see how the ladies feel about this.

My mom and I were discussing this "old traditional" philosophy that seems to be kinda cultural, throughout quite a few different cultures on this planet. As an example I will use the show the Sopranos. The men in this "society" feel that if they marry the woman and provide for her and the family well, there should not be any questioning of what they do, or who they do, outside of the home.

My mom had a husband like this and she felt that she was never good enough because he was never faithful to her. She was always trying to be better so he wouldn't go outside the home, which of course was never going to stop because he felt it was his "manly" right. Now he did provide financially and presence too. He cared for us kids like we were his own when we weren't.

Those other women aren't suppose to matter because he did not marry them.

How many of you ladies have ran into this in different cultures of men? I have ran into it on several occasions with men from different backgrounds.

Ladies, would you want to marry into this situation?

No, I am not saying all men are this way and I am not trying to start a man bashing thread. I ask because there are women who do it and accept it.

If a man does that, he doesn't truly love his wife, just owns her. There are a lot of men and women who are okay with their spouses being with others as long as they are tight-lipped, but I wouldn't want such a situation. I can't imagine crawling in bed with someone who would do that, and who knows what disease de jour may follow.

And, I suppose if he's open-minded enough to screw around, she should have those same opportunities.

Under no circumstances would I accept this kind of relationship with a man. If a man needs other women then he can do it without me around.

what Having his cake and eating it too???

I agree that if it is acceptable for him, it should also be acceptable for her. But then you get into the "manly" respect they expect so they will not go for it in those "traditional" men.

Do you think this is a dying "custom"? Since women are not so dependent of men.

Me too, I like men who are not traditionally or classically good looking myself and they mess around too.

He is cute...lol

You might have a problem once you marry him though. You know how some ladies think, if you married him then he must have some hidden talents or something so he will look better to them.laugh

Absolutely NOT! I would never go for this situation. I'd rather live lonely and poor.
