they put em in weight classes made em wear gloves put time limits on the rounds no head butting no elbows to the head can no longer kick em to the head when they go down You can elbow to the head. I happen to like it a lot more now than before. And any of these fighters now would absolutely kill all those old school guys with or without the rule changes. It'd be like a pro boxer fighting some idiot in a bar. Look how fast Kimbo got KO'd by a UFC reject. Yes their wild swinging punches look violent but without good technique they're just arm punches. I like Franklin over Silva even though Silva can end any fight with one punch. Franklin just uses angles better and throws better combos. And I think Velasquez will beat Kongo due to Kongo taking the fight on 3 weeks notice. Velasquez will probably win the fight but it's a lose-lose situation for him. If he wins, he beat a guy who only had 3 weeks to prepare, if he loses, he just lost to some guy who only had 3 weeks to prepare. Velasquez may need to drop down to 205 eventually though. Once Lesnar entered the fray the heavyweight division changed, at 240 he'd give up 25 pounds to a guy like Lesnar, and Lesnar probably has to cut to get to 265, he probably enters the ring at about 280. I want to see Franklin win, and then see Wanderlei fight Anderson..should be a lot of drama since Anderson Silva is helping Franklin prepare for the fight and Anderson and Wanderlei used to be training partners. |

If I wanted to see 2 dunk hillbillies fight with no rules and no technical skill, I'd attend nascar events.

hahahaha or you can also hit up ur local bar for some fighting w/out rules. (Also there is some bad ass underground street fighting w/out as many rules) BUT NE WAY>>>I was gonna say that UFC is trying for these guys to have carriers and if they are injured to the point where they can't fight then ticket sales would be uncomparable to now. UFC 98, 99, and 100 were sold out wayyyyyy ahead of the fights. Some fight tickets never even made it to the general public. Because the names these guys have built up for themselves make the public hungry. I like the rules as well not so fond of light weight fighting

The rules make it acceptable for state athletic commissions so they can have the events. That's what killed the old UFC, the state athletic commissions didn't want to grant them licenses.
Wait, number 17, you mean it's only illegal to kick the kidney with the heel? They're allowed to use rabbit punches? Cause you can rupture the kidney with a punch, or shin kick or kicking with the ball of the feet. It's illegal in boxing because of risk of internal bleeding and they're wearing much heavier gloves. I'm amazed that mochida has been so good cause I took karate and most of the stuff they taught us to use in a real fight are all the things that are illegal in MMA. |

*My picks
Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva I know Silva hasn't been at the top of his game and I do love Rich Franklin, but I'm still gonna have to give this one to Silva. *Silva in the 2nd round by submission Cheick Kongo vs. Cain Velasquez *Kongo by TKO or decision Ben Saunders vs. Mike Swick This is a decent match up, it's really anyones game. *Swick by decision. Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy Davis by submission 3rd round. |

Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy Davis by submission 3rd round. Silva by submision? In 32 wins...Silva has only finished 3 with submssions. I'm going to go against the grain on this one. Ima say Franklin by TKO with a counter punch. Franklin has great counter attacks and thats whats Silvas weakness is. And I'm going to take Velasquez by decision. Kongo has no ground game whats so ever and Velasquez is a good wrestler. So I see Velasquez winning with some ground and pound. And Im going to take Davis as well...except im going to go with knock...just for the hell of it. And Cro Crop better win....hes getting an easy fight. |

Ok let me revise... Silva by TKO .... better?
