Sounds like more than FWB if you spend that much time together.. I'm not into them but if I were I know I'd enjoy my alone time unless I wanted to be together... Heck I do that while in a relationship.... lol

I think it's wrong.

When I was younger, I was dating a man and we later found out that he was my second cousin. We quit dating because of that.

Genetically speaking there is no reason not to breed with even a first cousin. For thousands of years humans didn't have any other options. We lived on groups of only about 50 people. Everyone was related.

The practice of not allowing cousins to marry was an attempt by the church to stop the ruling calsses from consolidating wealth.

That's actually true. It was a rather popular method of keeping wealth within a ruling family- usually second-cousins were married, as it allowed for some genetic variety DESPITE being related by blood. But there were cases where first-cousins were married as well.

It's said that some of the old-money families, like the Rockefellers, the Du Ponts, and the Rothschilds were able to maintain their fortunes by taking part in the same practices even today.

I disagree. I think that there are genetic reasons to not breed with a first cousin. If there is a negative genetic marker, it multiples when one has a child with a family member.

But...he's thinking about being with another woman. That changes everything.

I have made it a point to study genetics. Although I'm not a PHD I am the kind of person that learns this kind of thing for kicks.

Have you studied genetics at all? Do you have anything to back up your view on the subject?

Not only that, but the ruling families of the era had often claimed to be "touched" by god, there by giving them the "right" to be where they were in terms of stature and social class. Feudalism was essentially founded on the whole caste system, whereby the "pious" ruling class essentially controlled over all others.

The church, if nothing else, buddied up with the ruling class to get a share of the wealth.
