Directed by Mary Harron
Starring Gretchen Mol

A must for any fan of Bettie Page. This HBO made movie takes you through the life of Bettie Page, the pin up goddess of the 1950’s, whose popularity rivals that of Marilyn Monroe. This 85 minute film (shot primarily in black and white) begins with Bettie’s humble beginnings in Tennessee as a young church going girl, and soon follows her to New York City in order to follow her aspirations in acting, then almost by accident, slips into the life of a model, then soon, a fetish model (which was labeled illegal at the time).

Gretchen Mol is not only the spitting image of Bettie, but portrays the most accurate depiction of the model to date, recreating many of Bettie’s most famous photo shoots.

As I said before, this is a must see for anyone who is a fan of Bettie Page’s modeling, as is a great film for anyone who is into biographic cinema.

Yeah. Bettie Page was quite the hellcat back in the day. The REAL story was what happened to her AFTER she stopped doing her pin-up stuff, though- she essentially because a total recluse and wasn't discovered until something like a couple of years ago.

Apparently what happened was that some rather astute Bettie fan noticed an older lady looking almost exactly like her watering her front lawn (she was living in Lawndale, California which is near L.A. International Airport) and decided to ask questions. Rather interesting stuff.

Ok, I'm a die hard Bettie fan and I was stoked when they did a bio-pic of her but really....Gretchen Mol?! No, no, no. Rose McGowan would have made a VERY good Bettie.
