If you can just stop "loving" someone, was it ever really love to begin with?

If you can just stop "loving" someone, was it ever really love to begin with? Love is not a paradox. It is THE paradox. /thread. |

The love you had may have been very real. But when you realize that person is not who you thought, then your love is for someone else, isn't it?

You will only know who you love when you die.
Because even if you swear black and blue, up and down, that you love someone right now. What happens if someone you love more comes along? What happens if you fall out of love with them? What happens if they pass away and you move on? Only at the last second of your life can you truly say who you love, for then you are guaranteed that nothing will surpass the level of love that you have for that person in that moment, nor that will anything change that fact in the future. Because, you cease to exist at that moment. (Please don't turn this into a religious debate, cease to exist can mean anything from rot in the ground, to reincarnation, to ascending to heaven depending on your beliefs.) |

If you can just stop "loving" someone, was it ever really love to begin with? I think if you ever truly love someone you never stop loving them. You may grow apart, you may separate for whatever reason but somewhere inside you the love never leaves. Time heals all wounds...but I think time just dulls the pain until you function properly... |

"What is love?? Baby don't hurt me...don't hurt me....no more" LOLOL
Well I think the question is, what is love? How is that defined? Is it different for all people? Sometimes people fall into "lust" or "deep like" or something and then it ends and it's as if, wow what was that? Later on you realize what it was for what it really was, not just how you felt in the moment. But if you get that good feeling with them all the time and you stay together, then you know it's love. Yeah, okay so that didn't make much sense, even to me, but it seemed to at the time I typed it... |
