Hallo ein willkommen. Wo in Deutschland sind Sie?shades

ich bin aus der nähe von Essen, das liegt in NRW.
Welche Städte kennen Sie in Deutschland?

I was stationed with the US Air Force at Rhein Main rght outside of Frankfurt from '86-'90. I loved livin in Germany. My favorite city to visit on a day trip was Heildelberg. Fell in love with the castle, the river, the architecture, and the food there. I also loved visitin the Black Forest region on a weekend holiday. Went to the Ettal Monestary, Beer house in Munich, an Neuschanstein. Absolutely beautiful area. I've been to every AF base an just about every Army post the US has in Germany other than East Germany when it was. I would love to go back to visit and visit the family I have in Berlin. What do you think of the states compared to Germany?shades
....hey reddbeans....I was stationed on an army base on rhein main from 86-90 also. Does colonel mathews ring a bell? First perscom?

Didn't deal with many of the Army people on the base. I worked in Records in the MAP squadron. My office was in the basement of the dorm buildin right next to HQ. The one that got car bombed a couple weeks before I got there. LOL That made me leary for awhile. You ever eat at the cantina on base? Man, do I miss the jagerschnitzel from there. shades

I was also in Heidelberg for few weeks, and Heidelberg is a beautiful city.
It is difficult to compare. because the states are more than 3 times bigger than Germany and it depends where you live in the states.
I think generally it is easier to live in Germany.

True it's very difficult to compare. There are alot of things I miss about Germany. The people, the food, the beer and the absolutely gorgeous scenery. The only thing I truly missed about the states when I was in Germany was the convience of stores bein open longer hours. LOL shades

I know you and remember you. Ha ha ha. Yeah, after the bomb blast they cordoned off HQ with concrete blocks. I was right across from the MAC terminal. I lived 2 blocks from you. NCO club had slot machines and great bands. Freddy fender one night. Lacy j dalton the next. Even had tom wopat from the dukes of hazzard sing one night. Yes the yaegerschnitzel and pommes frits with gravy sauce was the bomb with french champaigne. Mmmmmmmmmm.

I was the army guy who walked in and dropped off records and split. Always in a hurry. I had to multitask like a son of a gun. I was armed most of the time. Security records delivery. My job after panama and honduras? To get troops and their household goods safely to their destination in europe by any means. For 2 weeks. Then we would switch off and go out in the field and train national guard for their 2 weeks of training. We were crazy.

I traveled 27 countries by plane, train, s bahn, car, truck, and motorcycle. I had the gravy job. Every day was a new challenge. We were the get things done guys. Two guys got too drunk and drove their car 5 hours into russia- creating an international incident. Yup we flew into moscow to get them tovarich and bring them home safely speciva. A colonel just had his brand new porsche 944 delivered to bremerhaven netherlands and needs it delivered to baumholder. I'm the guy who flew up, jumped in and drove that porsche to his front door with puckered asshole because one scratch and my stripes were his. Fun times.

U remember hearin about the big drug bust OSI did in the MAP Squadron? Cleared out half the d*mn dorm. LMAO Gurl across the hall from me got busted bigger than sh*t for tryin to bring hash over from Amsterdam. What a bunch of idiots. Apprently they didn't realize the OSI had dealers narcin on em soon as they bought off em.shades

...yup. Its been a long time. 20 plus years. I dropped papers to you. Not often. Maybe once a month. We definitely could not fratenize with the air force. We were under strict orders from our AG to be professional around the air force. "No dog f*cking" they would say. We had pleats!

Don't get me started, I had quite a few uncouth Army grunts that hit on me over at the club on base. Not the NCO but the one across from the dorm. Talk about a bunch of drunk idiots. LMAO I used to smile at em an tell em "I ain't from the red light district hun go peddle ur lines somewhere else" I quit goin over to that one cause you just couldnt mix horny Army grunt an alcohol. They just didn't know how to behave. LMAO

Just goes to show u how small the world can actually be huh? shades

Remember a guy in your dorm named rob valasquez? Guy smoked so much hash, you'd have thought hed invented it. When that bust went down- he was the only one that didn't get busted because he never bought or brought it back. He was funny. Used to call him robnoxious. Always blaring rock music. Big card parties.

Really only ran with a few folks in the dorm. Didn't hang with the druggers. Wasn't gettin my hinny in the clink. But if he was at any of the big dorm parties I'm sure we ran across each other. The best one I remember is the beach party. We had a kiddy pool in the hall an everyone was in bathsuits with hula skirts an leas. It was a freakin blast. Or we'd have football games in the hallways durin parties an cut the lights out. The ball was a glow in the dark. Good times!! LMAO
