.. what would you tell people; that want to save some money, in hard times?? Some families ,have several children. (They do need some thoughts, on this.)waving waving

Now is the best time to invest in the stock market. Yes, invest in some good stocks now.

I gambled on GM and lost $2k.. Gambled on Ford and I'm up about $500... All in all since Sept I've lost about $4000, not good odds for me I'd say... slaphead

Thats too bad. Hopefully things will pick up on your portfolio!(unless you have already sold up!).

A friend of mine is up about 10k(in pounds, about 14k in dollars) since January. Im gonna be going to him for tips!

I'm holding it all Dan.. Selling for well under what I bought it for doesn't sit well with me.. I think the market is recovering all the time so I want to watch it.. Now my GM is worth near nothing but well I've lost most all of it so why not watch and see what they do with the bankruptcy, etc. next week....

People like us should really only enter into it with a long term view anyhow. We arent day traders, and even the day traders dont really have much of a clue how a stock is going to perform.

The trick at the moment, i think, is investing in those companies that are doing poorly, but are equipped to stay afloat and avoid bankruptcy. When they go bankrupt you stand to lose every single penny.

The more money you make the more money you spend on UNECCESSARY things. I know that when I was making less money I was more focused on what I could and couldnt do with that money. I knew exactly how much I had at all times and how much I could spend. And I had more!! I would save for trips and go on them. I basically lived on my wage and saved all of my tips in a jar. 3 months I had an all inclusive trip in my pocket.

Now that I make more money....Im not so focused on what I cant have. Im not always looking at the cheapest price.

turn off the cable

get rid of the cell phones

no more pizza

times are really not that dire and desperate. maybe some people can't afford the luxuries they are used to but we still have a higher standard of living than 90% of the rest of the world

like my grandmother used to say "back in the depression we made soup from old boots and were happy to have it"

I've had a long list on ways to save for a long time, and finally added it to my blog just now, rather than posting the whole thing here.

Yeah I can't say I have anything to offer... every time I want to save money one of my sons hands me a bill for something they need, want, must do, must have OR the school comes up with new must purchase items.... slaphead
frustrating ain't it?
