...you can't beat someone's ass for calling you, say, a weak b*tch, has a huge impact on society. Obviously the person calling you that needs to be put in his place but he is protected by the freedom of speech. He feels invincible because he knows you have to take the insults. In reality, you aren't scared of him, you are scared of the 500lb gorilla behind him waiting to put your ass in jail for protecting your own dignity.
There should be an exception to the law that says you can beat someone's ass for an aggravated verbal assault. It has a huge impact on society because people open their mouths on a daily basis blasting ignorant insults that would easily get their ass whooped PRIOR to corporal punishment being made to look like extreme abuse in every case and is now banned. Society needs more respect within itself and I'm afraid that a big portion of respect stems out of fear of pissing someone off. These people need something that will make them think twice about opening their mouth and that is adding the question "Will I get my ass kicked if I said that" into their thought process. Thoughts? |

one word RESPECT seems to be a lost art now days |

Hummm think you should look at the laws about Freedom to Speech. For there are lines ones cross and they are no longer protected by the Freedom to Speech Laws.
Once they take the road of verbal abuse or even to shoot you the finger they have crossed that fine line. But that still does not give another the right to take that first swing unless they want to go to jail as well. |

Dude,
When did violence ever solve anything? If someone verbally attacks you, just ignore them. If you feel the need to respond to them, respond verbally. If they physically attack you first, then you got the 500 lb gorilla behind YOU, even if you strike back. The law will then protect you, as your act of aggression would be deemed as self defense...! Fair enough? |

I completely agree, respect is missing. Personal decency is toast, nobody seems to agree to disagree anymore.
According to: http://goidelandsiegel.com/housing-premises-accident-lawyers-new-york/ny-assault-battery-personal-injury-lawyers.htm Paraphrased. Verbal assault is a matter of threats (especially if the recipient feels threatened), rather than the mocking, scorning, gradeskewl bully type. On the upside, if you can make them threaten you in front of a friendly witness, you're probably free to taser them. |

You might be able to get them for assault but it does not give one lea way to fiscally hit another back. For then you could as well become the aggressor. There is a fine line there when it comes to self defense.....

WTF...

You can instill fear and intimmidation in someone without hitting them. If they hit you first, well then it's game on!

Thoughts? -whispering into the perps ear- "enjoy your display of bravado little man as you know there are not always witnesses to everything that takes place, you have one chance now to either apologize, walk away without running your mouth again or live the rest of your life looking over your shoulder, afraid to go out at night" -step back and watch their expression- They have basically three choices apologize walk away quietly exclaim loudly that you threatened them in which you look to the others and ask if they "heard anything", when the reply is no, simply state that it sounds like "hearsay" and walk away with a smile |

Nothing stops me. Stupid people will be stupid. There is a way around this whole thing and I've found out it works well for all parties involved. Ever heard the term "Ski mask and a two by four"? It really works well for me to fix other peoples respect issues, attitude problems, general stupidity, thieves, spousal abusers, and those that push that envelope and then hide behind that 500 pound gorilla. It even works well on 500 pound gorillas. Remember- no name, no shame. Ski mask and a two by four. Effective and efficient around all surveillance cameras used everwhere today. Ski mask and a two by four- sold at all leading hardware retailers. Don't delay- get yours today.

Personal responsibility. We cant be responsible for other ppl when it comes to being respectful, and it isnt just about law either. KARMA....would u really wanna marr ur own karma over someone who means nothing to u? i know i wouldnt. Sticks n stones n all that. So wat if someone has a negative opinion of u, so wat if they call u a name....why would u let it bother u to the stage u wanna thump them? Let it be on THEIR karma, not urs. Being disrespectful is 1 thing....being violent and breaking the law is quite another. In life we have always had, and always will have, not so positive characters. How we deal with them is our own personal responsibility. Violence is a crime, imo, verbal abuse, altho unpleasant, is just school yard stuff. |

there actually is most laws are written such that if a person verbally assaults you then you they are as liable as the person responding maybe physical violence doesn't solve anything but the threat of it seems to. If they think you'll kick their ass regardless of the consequences then it's the same difference. It's in the Redneck Rulebook. Look it up go up to any Hell's Angel and tell him he sucks |

Bull: "I see you like to chew - maybe you should chew...on my fist!"
The warrior said nothing, for his mouth was full. Then he swallowed, and then he spoke: Po: "Enough talk, let's fight! SHAPABOOEY!" He was so deadly, in fact, that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness! Rabbit: "My eyes!" Crocodile: "He's too awesome!" Female rabbit: "And attractive!" Another rabbit: "How can we repay you?" Po: "There is no charge for awesomeness...or attractiveness" Female rabbits: Sigh looking dazed.... Po: “KABOOEY” It mattered not how many foes he faced - they were no match for his bodacity. Never before had a panda been so feared, and so loved. Even the most heroic heroes in all of China, the Furious Five, bowed in respect to this great master. Master Monkey: "We should hang out" Po: "Agreed" But hanging out would have to wait, because when you're facing the ten thousand demons of Demon Mountain, there’s only one thing that matters, and that’s… Skadoosh! |

I agree completely man....
My personal thought...The "I can do what I want and get away with it" attitude...is wretchedly prevelant because actual physical discipline has been stripped from our society. Because we can no longer whip our kids when they act up you got 14 and sixteen year olds talking sh*t to thier elders and literally getting away with murder. For the people who think that violence doesn't serve an actual purpose...you obviously weren't raised where I was. |

All this anger over someone calling you a weak b*tch? Wow. Isn't that something you can just let go, rather than stooping to their level and wanting to get back at them?
