Here's hoping you get well soon lulu. I've been immunized 3 times for it.

I've never had it, but my children have been vaccinated for it and I was last year. I remember one spring, about 2 years ago, our family doctor told me that 13 babies had died from it already since that January.

I'm very pro-vaccine. My oldest (3.5 years) had bacterial meningitis when he was 6 months old and is now profoundly disabled. He was going to receive the vaccine, but hadn't yet.

i'm mixed on my feelings about vaccinations, but we've all been vaxed for this one. my little one couldn't handle getting this.

of course, the kids were all kicked out of school for five days and placed on prophylactic antibiotics to hopefully prevent them from getting this.

as today goes on, i'm realizing how much this sucks.

Lulu,

Are you saying that because you have it, the kids got kicked out of school for 5 days?

If they're home with you, do you think wearing a mask will help them to not get it?

i don't know if that would help or not. it's fairly airborne.

the pediatrician didn't mention that, just gave them all a five-day course of azithromycin, the same thing i'm on.

i'm already a full two weeks into my contagious phase...i'm sure this bug is all over the place here.

and yes, they were removed from school because of being in contact with me. it's either the five days with pills or three full weeks.

Wow, I didn't know the schools would do that. My child's school just has the rule about not coming to school until 12 hours after a fever is gone.

for normal illnesses, they need to be fever-free for 24 hours. whooping cough is handled a bit differently, heh.
