Standing in the rain I felt humbled by nature's awesome power. Fully clothed, with the rain pouring from the heavens I felt closer to clarity than I ever had before.
I stood there in nature's storm and felt so insignificant that my life started to seem less scary. My problems seems to shrink and melt away as the downpour washed over me. My mind, my body, my spirit all seemed to be cleansed as I stood there with runny mascara and sopping sneakers in the parking lot of the corner store.
Turning around in the dark I look back at my friend and see his smile. He calmly waits by the entrance, still getting soaked but not bothered by it. He crosses his arms while he watches me run and spin and laugh but just watches, taking it all in.
Is it because he thinks I'm crazy? Or because he admires my total childish abandon? Does he wish he was a care free as me? Or is he just amazed a 'grown' person can be so happy about being drenched?
I never asked him. In a way it's important that he didn't try to discuss the moment after the fact. In my heart I know I'll never forget that storm. So sudden and awesome. And I know I'll never forget the feeling either. It was so cleansing. It felt as though I was...
