Okay... if that's the case, then you're probably gonna wanna do less of the heavy weights and stick to lighter weights and more reps. you'll also want to do more cardivascular stuff as well, like running/bicycling or even swimming, too.

As far as diet goes, you're probably gonna have to ditch the red meats and the fatty stuff and cram stuff more like chicken, fish and leafy green vegetables down your pie-hole.

I USED to be rather toned and bulked-up, but after some injuries I sustained some time ago, I've found that I've grown rather comfortable with my soft, squishy center now. laugh

Yeah. Starting a routine (and more importantly- sticking with it) is the most important part of the workout.

Most of the stuff I did consisted of three "sets" with between 10 and 15 repetitions in each set, depending on the weight. The lighter the weight, the more reps you need to do to keep up the burn. I also did a lot of alternating between upper and lower body, which makes for good cross-training. Limiting various days to workouts targeting specific parts of the body (upper body one day, lower on the other, etc.) also works as well.

The thing to keep in mind is that you're not liable to see much of any real results until months into your workout. There'll also be times when you'll hit plateaus where it'll seem that you aren't losing weight or making any gains, etc.

But swimming is by far the best thing you can do to slim up. It will work every muscle in your body, which will burn a buttload of fat.

Yeah. Part of the workout will consist of trying to figure out the equipment, which seems to get more and more complicated.

But yeah- swimming would be the number-one thing to try if you wanna slim up. Just don't overdo it, as you'll find yourself falling asleep at some point.

Another thing to avoid are those "shotgun" workouts, where they throw everything but the kitchen sink at you for a limited amount of time- all you're doing in THAT case is excreting massive amounts of water, which isn't really much in the way of toning up. Not only that, but it's also potentially dangerous, as you kind of NEED the water in your system to survive, too.

I have noticed since I started swimming, all my muscles are screaming in pain, but oh, does it feel good to know I am working out again and starting to get my pre-marriage body back!

Princess is lucky. She gets the ultimate workout if she swims in the ocean, cause she has to fight waves and currents. All I get to fight is swimming pool water. grumble
