Slipping back into my shell
Hiding myself from the world
And the pain it brings
Safe inside here
And when the tears come
As they always do
I'll be tucked away
Safe inside myself
Watching the world go by
Wondering why
Why I can't be free
From the shackles and prisons that bind me
Waiting impatiently for the light to see me through
Crying out in the night
Screaming for forgiveness
That I know will never come
Setting myself up to come undone
Fighting for all I'm worth
Cannot let it overcome
Take over my soul
Waiting for guidance
Hoping for relief
Reaching out from my cracked shell
Extending my hand
Down on my knees
Praying for the light from within

Don't go back in that shell
for there it is only HELL
