Tossing out a quick note. (Then off to paint the side deck)

Just wanted to toss out a warning, especially to those that have houseplants.

I have a couple Euphorbia plants called Pencil Plants or Firesticks. The info on them is that the sap is toxic, and to be careful not to break the plant.

Well, apparently, it's not just the sap.

I had to run mom to the ER yesterday, because she has gotten swiped across the face when she was moving one of the plants. There was a slight burn in the eye, and then a few minutes later, she said it felt like her eyeball started to boil. She did the whole rinse thing, 45 minutes, and then had me run her to the ER where they gave the eye some novacain, and did a saline flush for 20minutes, with more novacaine and antibiotics.

Anyways, she's doing better, has to wear a patch for 24 hours, (Pirate Mama! LOL!) and will probably beat me later, when she can see to catch me, since I'm having fun picking on her now. LOL! I'm the evil daughter! Bwahahaha!

My thought is they could be called firesticks for a reason. Any way hope your mum feels better soon.

Yup, when diving they warn you about fire coral.
Think I'll go throw myself on some and see why they call it fire coral...

All seriousness though, good to hear she'll be ok and you know, I'd pick on her too
-walk like a pegleg-
-say Arrr a lot-
-ask her where her parrot flew off to-
-yo ho ho and a bottle of rum-

She'd probably get even before she got the patch off,,, laugh

Foxglove in the garden is dangerous for some. It's also digitalus. (heart medication ingredient) and can be lethal to small children and pets who might decide to snack.

Thanks ya'll.

They're called fire sticks because they turn bright red in the sun. All euphorias have the toxic sap tho
