Both are pretty lame, actually. I actually prefer either the Speed Channel, The National Geographic Channel, or The Travel Channel.

Neither channel is great. Discovery is more children oriented. Both have had a lot of good shows. Both show a lot of filler.

I like both channels and they seem to divide up content well between them. The history channel has the hardcore history programs like Patton 360, and history undercover. On the other hand the discovery channel focuses more on engineering / light science, with shows like Myth Busters and Doing da vinci. As well as some documentaries about the natural world.

I do have a major grip with both of them. They both seem to think there audience has the attention span of a humming bird. They repeat themselves to the point of stupidity. Its like "I remember what you just told be before the commercial break, you don't need to recap the entire show after each commercial break".

I don't have the History Channel and while I like some of the shows on the discovery channel, I miss the earlier days where you could actually catch a good documentary instead of this overly dramatized and produced reality show drivel disguised as documentary.

Modern Marvels is cool

I'm about sick of Dirty Jobs and the crab fishermen

Ice Road Truckers is the worst. Truck driving is a boring job anyway. But a show about truck drivin?

Myth Busters is okay

Locked Up Abroad is pretty boring too

I'd like to see the History Channel do more shows actually about history

and Caesar "be the pack" makes me want to pull my hair out

History channel has gone off elsewhere besides actual history, but I think they have covered 99% of known history since the channel's creation so they need new content.

I do love Discovery tho because I'm a fan of Dirty Jobs and Mythbusters and I try to watch Deadliest Catch when its on. It may not be mind blowing but its still better than anything that NBC, ABC or CBS can come up with.

If I had to pick one tho...it would be Animal Planet love
