A few months ago, I had written a small bit, in regards to my Quaker Parrot, Pip. He was such a wonderful little guy. He was loving, funny, active and such a joy. My friends here were always amused to hear of some of the cute things that he would say and do. This morning, I let Pip out of his cage, he told me "Good Morning!" and gave me a kiss...three hours later, he was lying in his food bowl, barely breathing. We called the only "bird vet" we have in town and she told us what was wrong with Pip. She said we needed to get him into a vet within the hour and if we hurried, he could be saved. She then told us that we would have to take Pip to Indy, 50 miles away, because it was Friday and she wanted to leave early. Within the hour...Pip was gone. I am trying to deal with the loss of my companion, my buddy, my kid...and at the same time, I am furious....this vet, who knew exactly what was wrong....could not give us ten minutes to run to her office and get the medicine that Pip needed. I can never bring my buddy back and it is a loss that I will never forget about. I want to thank all of you for listening to my little stories of Pip's antics and to also remind all of you that if you have an animal, please make sure that there is medical care provided for them in your area that you can truly count on......Kim
Also, a special thanks to my dear friend Puffins, for calling me and allowing me to cry and for all of the comfort she has given me. |

Always hurt to lose a friend, I lost one of my dogs about a year ago...and have another one that is coming up on his last leg, he seems otherwise healthy right now but it is just a matter of time given his age.
I lose this one and that will be a dagger in my chest, this dog has been my only friend out here the entire time I've lived here. I promised him I would take his ashes to the ocean, I will fulfill that promise for him. |

I can't imagine a vet that would do this. She should be expelled from the profession. That won't bring Pip back, but may prevent the same thing from happening to someone else. I lost my cat to cancer a few months back. She was my very good friend. Maybe Pip and Coco are playing together in heaven right now.

I know what it is to lose a family member as such. Sorry hun.
As for the vet, well, I won't go there. |

There are a lot of places you can report the vet.. first of course is the BBB.. then get on the internet and find out how vets are registered and lodge a complain there. I have been know to stand out in front of businesses with a sign depicting the problem.. sorry for your loss of your little friend.

That would be wonderful to know. He was so funny...he used to jump on my dog's back when she would fall asleep and scare the dog, and then of course Pip would have to laugh. As for the vet...my daughter went straight to the net and filed a complaint with Peta....probably won't do anything, but if a vet knows that an animal is dying, they should want to help...lets you know which ones are in it for the money, and which of them actually care. And so sorry about your Coco I'm thinking that if you want results that can be measured, you're better off doing these two things... Go to the newpapers and radio for your locale and express your feelings, situation and evident lack of concern on her part (you did say the vet was a woman, right?). Make sure all friends and acquaintences are aware of your circumstances and tell them if they value their pet, maybe they shouldn't be one of her clients. |

I am sorry to hear of your loss. A pet sure can become a very special part of the family and feel like a child. My sister lost her cat last week as well, she called me in tears. That vet really needs a reality check, my sisters vet did the same thing. They knew the cat was old and sick and they called my sister to tell her they overbooked the appts and she had to bring her that evening instead of the 10am appt she had. If they had let her keep her 10am appt she would probably still be here, but her cat passed at 11am that morning. She called the vet and they were just speechless. |
