This video is from the 80s, from an Ex-KGB agent, who talks about the work of KGB in former Soviet Union and compares it to what goes on in the USA:

Brainwashing of America

Watched it. It appears that this warning has arrived a bit too late. This was said in 1985. By Bezmenov's estimates, we had just a few years left, when we could do something.

It's 2009. 24 years have passed. There is nothing that can be done anymore.

Interestingly, Bezmenov mentions exactly what we see now, that you could shower a person with facts, and you would still not be able to change his perception. Once common sense is killed in an individual, it can no longer be restored.

This is because the brainwashing doesn't deal with misrepresentation of facts, but instead, it trains a perception, a taste. Once an unnatural taste is trained, no fact can change that, as with a drug user, the knowledge that he is dying as a matter of fact, can not change his affections.

His argument was given without substance... nothing to back it up, no common sense, no historical facts, no nothing...

It was a KGB member fearing the same thing he fled from was going to happen in the country to which he fled.

Big deal.

No correlation.

Hmm..

Basically, this means, that what I am trying to do, is useless. My avatar is a symbol of stupidity.

Seriously thinking about that, I have to admit, that this is probably true. Probably? Almost certainly.

And, so is your action of the same kind. Waste of time and opportunity. Think about it.

It has nothing to do with you and me... personally.

I am saying that just because that man says that measures which he deems to be socialist are being taken, it does not follow that there will be a militaristic enforcement of socialism or communism in this country..

There are problems, no doubt... not those though!

I am sorry, I wasn't addressing anyone in particular. Just thinking out loud.

The generation he is talking about , calculating from the 1985 - Let's say they were teens or finishing college/university graduate students, are about hmmmm in their 40s, close to 50s, many of them currently holding positions in various governments and agencies. It is not unreasonable to believe, that "hippie" age people as well, from the 70s and 60s are within this group, since his interview in 1985 doesn't make a landmark, he was talking about "current issues" , which was already going on, so really....not to be surprised about the very liberal decisions, policy making and liberal ideology followed today in many Western nations as well as the entire US government is filled with them.
Remind you...how the entire congress turned democratic -majority just around in 2006, and yet people blame Bush for many things, forgets to look at the records how the congress was already democratic-majority way before messiah-Obama was elected. So, again, I can talk about this and other issues, and continue to bring up any facts..there are many refuse to keep an open mind and not religiously follow one side's ideas, regardless whether that is good/bad, that's pretty much being brainwashed, who think he/she can do no evil, just because the majority thinks that way.
Majority can be wrong and has been wrong before, but again, open minded people and those who can resist the temptation not to identify with a certain party almost religiously are rare these days.
