I have 4 cats and a Miniature Schnauzer and they run things around here. If someone didn't get along with my dog they would be short-term. The cats can just leave the room or do what cats do. How much weight does your pet carry in deciding who you see?

It's one thing if they're allergic to the animals. It's another thing if they flat out don't like animals. That tells me a lot about a person.

Why would they have to love your pets? Is tolerating them not enough? As long as someone doesnt mistreat them why would it matter?

Actually, my question was about someone getting along with my pets/dog. They pobably never would love them like I do but life would be like walking on egg shells if your special somebody just tolerated your pet. Now, don't take this in the wrong light but just looking at your photo Dan, you seem like someone who maybe doesn't tolerate a whole lot? Just a guess.

Yeah I have allergies so pets are hard for me to be around for real long. Love them just my eyes and nose start itching. No problem with out door pets. :)

Not intending to stir things up, i just cant see how it matters if someone liked her pets or not, as long as they treated them properly.

Gotta go with the dog lover. Men usually love dogs and barely tolerate cats because of their independance.

If you are friendly towards pets it seems to show you to be a friendlier person...male or female.

I love dogs most, but cats are cool in their behaviors.

Only thing I don't really like from a strange dog is face licking....

Okay, Dan m'dear....I just read your profile so I'm not going to beat this into the ground because I can see you are a player. Your other photos are an improvement from the saturnine and glum photo presented on the message board.
ANYWAY, there is a big difference between someone tolerating something and someone really liking or loving something. You can go to a basketball game and love it and you cheer and jump out of your seat. You can go to the opera and tolerate it and you might look like you do in your photo which would be a huge distraction for the person who is with you. {Are you with me?} Someone could tolerate my dog and if my dog picked up my friend's car keys in his mouth and hid them in the kitchen the mood in the room wouldn't be so good. If my friend loved my dog and his antics then there would be jubilation and harmony in the air. So, the egg shell part comes in when my adorable doggy displeases the friend who only tolerates him because, being the kind and thoughtful person I am, I am going to be apologizing and explaining to make things peaceful again.

I am a 63 yr old widower for the last 11 years. I (as did my wife)love and shared our life with cats and dogs as well as a parrot. I would rather be alone forever than share it with someone who didnt LOVE animals, I have NEVER met an animal as Dumb as a human. Whwn a lady comes to visit me , if my 2 dogs dont like her she doesnt get a second chance,sorry if I offended some one BUT I am Very truthful and would be a Great catch, just very pickey. EJ

Dogs have a sixth sense about who can be trusted or not so I would continue letting your dogs be your barometer. Smart man!

I love my dog, but I do demand that he behaves himself. This is especially true if I have company. If I go over to a ladys house and she has cats that rule the home or some little ankle biter dog that she treats like a spoiled child, I am outta there.

A few years ago I was dating a gal and she told me that if her and her son were to move in I would have to get rid of my dog. I got custody of him in my divorce and there was now way I was going to give him up.

On a second date recently I brought the victim to my house to meet my giant slobbery white boxer, three legged cat, 8 goats, 18 chickens, and 4 ducks.

You have to love animals if you are going to be with me. Merely tolerating them doesn't cut it.

If you don't find joy in the antics of a baby goat, you are not the man for me.
