You have to do what is right and put him to sleep. Don't make him suffer any more than he already has. It is going to be one of the hardest things you have ever had to do, and you won't soon get over, but just think about him and the suffering that he is going through. Putting him to sleep will take all that pain away, it is a quick and painless process, and he will be much better off that way.

Aww hon. It sucks! I've had to make this choice a few times in my life.

You have to make the decision... let him continue to hurt or buck up and do what you need to. It's not easy, but as his owner and someone who he loves and trusts, you need to do what's right by him, even if it breaks your heart.

Gotta do what you gotta do bro. Been there and dealt with it......I cry like a baby when it is time to let my kids pass....but, when it is done and you are holding them just before planting them....they are so peaceful and free of pain that you KNOW you did the right and loving thing.

old Texas saying "You have to shoot your own dog"

not literally. but it means you have to take the responsibility and get it done

I had a cat once who had kidney failure (kinda prophetic huh?) and we had to give her a form of dialysis. had to hook up a bag of fluid and stab the needle in her back and drain the fluid into her. every night. we finally had to put her down. no sense in prolonging the agony

sorry to hear that you are in that position and wish you luck

It's time to put him down bro.U know in your heart that it is the merciful & right thing to do.Many of us have been there/done that & we surely feel your pain. When me & my sister had her boxer euthanized we were both allowed to remain in the room.We both gave her a final kiss/hug & we were allowed to keep our hands on her during the procedure. It is very quick & painless.U might consider this option.I'm sorry for your loss.Godspeed!Cy

I feel your pain! We had a golden retriever/ lab miz and he lived to be about 15 yrs old (which is a long time for a large dog) He had the same issues you are describing and we gave him baby aspirin (per the vets instructions)for his pain.

We just couldn't bear to put him to sleep and he passed at home one night a few years ago.

I know I couldn't do it but I know it might be better for him sad
