This thought came up too me recently, upon pondering 'fate', I personally find it to not have a shred of possibility. I've never for a second thought that my life was predetermined regardless of what I did or how I did it. I cannot figure having free will and the ability to choose, while all along it was already chosen for me--this alone does not and in my opinion cannot be, there isn't a possibility.

What do you think? Does fate apply to your life in some way? Does fate or destiny rule or do you think it to be a ridiculous idea? Do you think regardless of what you do today, tomorrow is alreay done and ready to go?

I write my own fate with the choices I make everyday.

Sometimes I DO think that our fate is predetermined. You know when you get that deja vu feeling and you really feel like you have done this before or maybe even had a dream that is now a reality?? Maybe it's just like a psychic intuition...I don't know...
It's happened to me several times and it's weird but it must mean somethingwhat

The dali llamas fate is predetermined. Yours can be too when you look harder into it fear. We don't live forever. Time is a predetermined fate. Experience and physics can be interelated to fate. Genetics can cause predetermination. Some are born into fate. Some are not. Some hold their own fate by choice.

I think in the end we all live the life we planned on living in order to learn what ever we came here to learn.. I think we each were born with our own itinerary... although I dont think any details are planned or fated..

Hmmmmmm. Let's see. Years ago I made the decision to do something stupid knowing full well what I was doing was stupid. The risk was high and I pushed the envelope and my chances. Luck didn't hold out by pushing my risk and I lost to fate by my own hand.

How about you fear? Your life was on a tangent that changed. Your life and abilities have changed after your accident due to fate of mishap. Your current life is concurring due to fate of mishap. Your fate is predermined due to experience. And I,for one, have empathy for your experience.

I had heard/read long ago that fate was indeed predetermined but our choices could change that... Sort of contradictory... But explained further I was told that God has a path for us, a way he wants things to turn out but the decision we make can change those and the things he's set for us were at the other fork in the road...

I'm not sure what I believe.. I don't think I believe in fate or destiny, I don't often think about it.. I have to say you make a lot of sense Fear....

I see where you are going with that, however I don't see how fate put me where I am. I made a decision on that day and it just so happens someone else made an irresponsible decision and I ended up where I am now. Indeed the possibility of me being 'Beerandloathing' was quite readily there, and the possibility still exists as alcoholism does run in my family...I just don't drink much at all anymore.

I see where my current situation came from, however I don't feel it was predetermined by anyone but my decisions. I wrote my book, in ink of blood, sweat, and tears...nothing and no one wrote it for me.

My issue with "fate" is the same as my issue with "karma" or "predestination" or even religion -- it ends up requiring someone or something we can't see or hear or touch, etc., to be making these decisions about our lives.

As I have yet to see the slightest shred of evidence for any such someone or something, I will continue to believe that there is no pre-existing "road map" of our lives. Stuff happens; we either cope with it or we don't. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.
