again...she leaves after saying no one but her cares because we can't offer a way to prevent this from ever happening again...but doesn't offer a solution herself slaphead

AND i will say this again...the way the OP was tagged at the end of the story had nothing to do with the tragedy...and that doesn't show me much empathy

ok....sense you seem to be the only one in here that has empathy (even though you have no clue) what do you suggest we do to stop it??? TJ already asked you that

AND FTR....they broke the law. I posted the Texas law and it does NOT give people permission to shoot at will. that seems to be a stereotype that people want to believe though

and I have NOT said OH WELL.

It's funny how your definition of the law has changed in 1 week.

brb!

no it didn't change. i actually read the law. i didn't THINK people could actually shoot someone that trespasses for no reason...now I know they can't

Joe Horn did.

Remember this?

At about 2pm Wednesday, Joe Horn called 911 from inside his Pasadena home. He says he saw two men break into his neighbor's house. Horn tells police that he is armed with a shotgun. "Hurry up, man. Catch these guys, will ya? I ain't gonna let them go, I'm gonna be honest with ya," said Horn on the 911 call. "I'm not gonna let them go. I'm not gonna let them get away with this (expletive)."
Horn and the dispatcher spent more than seven minutes on the phone, much of that with the dispatcher trying to convince Horn not to go outside.
"I'm gonna shoot, I'm gonna shoot," said Horn.
"Stay inside the house and don't go out there, OK?" responded the dispatcher. "It's not worth shooting someone over this."
"I don't want to, but if I go out there to see what the hell is going on, what choice do I have?" said Horn.
"I don't want you to go out there. I asked if you could see anything out there," said the dispatcher.
Horn tells the dispatcher that he understands his rights and even makes reference to the September 1 expansion that gives homeowners greater protection from prosecution should they choose to confront someone breaking into their home.
Before he can be convinced otherwise, Horn tells police he sees the burglars coming out of his house.
"He's coming out of the window right now," said Horn to the 911 dispatcher. "I gotta go, buddy. I'm sorry, but he's coming out the window."
"Don't, don't , don't go out the door. Mr. Horn? Mr. Horn?" said the dispatcher.
"(Expletive), they just stole something," said Horn to the dispatcher. "I'm sorry. I ain't gonna let them get away with this. They got a bag of something. I'm doing it."
The dispatcher can't stop Horn, who takes the phone with him as he goes outside.
"Move, you're dead," Horn, who took the phone outside with him, could be heard saying to the suspects.
Then three gunshots could be heard.
Horn admits later on the 911 call that he did, in fact, fire those shots. The names of the two men shot have not yet been released pending identification and notification of their next of kin. Horn has not been arrested or charged with any crime. A police investigation is still underway. This case likely will end up in the hands of a Harris County grand jury.

how does one keep such things from happening???

look and ask oneself, what type of "thinking", would one have to "think", to delude itself, into believing shooting a family for having "irresponsible fun" was ok, that that itself was "right" for doing so???

perhaps, "my propertry is more important than another's life"???

perhaps, something along these lines, "many are ****ing idiot's and asshole's", and stupid people deserve what they have comin to them"???

now, read the thread, and see what posts are thinking thru such self centered and self as "most important" thinking???

is it thought, that such people that shot the family and kid, did not have many friends, that laughed and condoned sush arrogant thinking, that HAD TO HAVE BEEN SPOKEN MANY TIMES PRIOR BY THE SHOOTER'S, TO BE ABLE TO BE "BELIEVED IN", BY THE SHOOTER'S???

the words of each human, DO IN FACT, HELP TO EITHER TEAR DOWN SELF INDULGENT IDICOY OF SELF IMPORTANCE AS BIGOTRY AND HATRED, OR CONDONE IT WITH APPEASEMENT AND FALSE AGREEMENT, FOR THE SAKE OF SO CALLED FRIENDSHIP AND???

what one believe in, is possible most by the agreement of other's, and CREATE ALL THINGS IN THE WORLD DONE BY HUMAN HANDS???

fanta...that is also a different scenario than this OP. they were committing a crime

Sec. 9.43. PROTECTION OF THIRD PERSON'S PROPERTY. A person is justified in using force or deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property of a third person if, under the circumstances as he reasonably believes them to be, the actor would be justified under Section 9.41 or 9.42 in using force or deadly force to protect his own land or property and:

(1) the actor reasonably believes the unlawful interference constitutes attempted or consummated theft of or criminal mischief to the tangible, movable property; or

(2) the actor reasonably believes that:

(A) the third person has requested his protection of the land or property;

(B) he has a legal duty to protect the third person's land or property; or

(C) the third person whose land or property he uses force or deadly force to protect is the actor's spouse, parent, or child, resides with the actor, or is under the actor's care.

as far as theft of property...I don't see a problem with the law. But I will say...I wouldn't think it's necessary to shoot someone for that...but that is just me. and not all Texans think to shoot people like it's nothing. in this OP...they family certainly didn't deserve that by any stretch of the imagination

like i have said before...crime and stupidity aren't exclusive to one state....it's everywhere

Does this mean that we should not have spoons because people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean we should remove cars because people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean that we should not have electric because people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean that we should not have knives becuse people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean that we should not have medicine because people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean that we should not have baseball bats because people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean that we should not have plastic bags because people could use it to kill another?

Does this mean that...

Dragoness...

This story is not a good argument for more gun control.

flowerforyou

No one condones killing here, but that could be acheived by nearly everything we have in our possession, could it not?

We cannot ban everything!

You cannot remove the possibility for one human harming another. It cannot be done! Gun control only makes it harder for those who follow the law...

Guns are not to blame here!

So, a seven year old was shot on public property.

He is dead.

And look at all this...how can anyone justify this act?

Makes me want to throw up.

Comparing this disgusting cowardly act to a situation where someone was actually in fear of their lives or endangered in any way is obscene.

Here is what is wrong with the gun debate. On one side are extremist who want to take everyone's guns away and on the other are extremist who think anything anyone does with any gun is okay.

guess that lands me in the middle of that. there are wackos and sane people that have access to guns. there is no justification IMO for this OP

Now we are going off on another thing again.

This was a flagrant violation of human rights.

A CHILD was shot because .......... well for nothing at all.

You may want to accept this and not feel for the victims but I will not.

I am working on what should be done about it. I will be writing to some people about it.

what about those that had invested all of their worldly treasures with a corrupt investor that stole everything they had

and then committed suicide is that any less evil

shall we just lock everyone in an apt building """for their own good"""

there is evil everywhere and there are those that will commit evil acts regardless

yes this was a tragedy but what is to be done

they will go on trail and the justice system will handle it that is the way the system works at this time

bundy sure violated a lot of peoples rights as well

all that can be de is for the system to go through the procedures to handle the injustices as they come

why should the law biding citizen every be punished for the injustices performed by the criminal

there seems to be a trend that goes sorta like this

oh they use those to commit crimes so lets make those illegal

thus the law biding citizen's rights are stolen because of a small percentage of evil doers

and honestly that is worse than anything the evil doer has personally done

besides when has prohibition of anything ever worked all that does is create a black market and the evil increases ten fold

just a thought

but hey

what do i know
