My son recently turned 18 and had to register with Selective Service. I don't get why they still have people do this. and what would happen if someone didn't register?

This is so that when Bush will get personally pissed off at Saddam, he will send your son to settle his scores.

I know it was passed in 1917 and it's in case of a draft. I'm just surprised they still have it around and what happenes if someone doesn't register???? and why only males??? females are in the military too.

Females get laid, pregnant and out. Somebody still needs to do the job, after all the fairness advocates are done with their shows.

He can get sent to jail, or fined, or both.
When I was 22 or 23, and had not registered, I got a huge warning letter that I needed to do it ASAP. They failed to cross-check my name against the list of ACTIVE duty military.. I was in the Army for the second time then...lol |

The law was orginally passed to be able to tell who was of drafting age without going through millions of letters. From the stories my grandparents told they had some boys ages 6 that were orginally called up for duty.
Selective service was to stop these mistakes from happening again. It is punishable by 5 yrs imprisonment or a fine of any where from $500 or more or both |

they kept it on the books in case of a massive emergency. something like the Chinese landing in San Diego, LA, and San Francisco. That way the logistics for raising a half million soldiers are already in place
when I turned 18 they discontinued the draft and suspended registering people. when I turned 19 they resumed registering. but I never had to. I've never been registered for the draft and enlisted anyway |
