American Patriotism It isn't enough to be An American who is free, To choose the kind of life we want to live, There are many things to do For our Red, White and Blue, There are many things each citizen can give. There's work which must be done For daughter and for son, For parents, and for friends and neighbors, too, Defending freedom's cause, Protecting righteous laws, And keeping independence bright and true. No cause is there more just, In God put all our trust, Let every free American start today, To work with all our might, Defending truth and right, And asking God to open up the way ![]() To keep our country free ![]() For folks like you and me, To live and work and worship as they please, ![]() In a land that's free from fear, ![]() In a land where patriots cheer, ![]() When they see "Old Glory" truly paint the breeze. ![]() May God protect this land ![]() With His almighty hand, ![]() And may He strengthen us against the foe, ![]() That we may right the wrongs, ![]() And sing our nation's songs, ![]() And let American patriotism show. ![]() By James H. Lee Jr. |

The Unknown Soldier You need not ever know my name This unknown soldier seeks no fame I'm here to bring out thought from you May your heart see more than your view America, we marched with pride We gave our life, for you we died How well we knew the time might come When life could sound that final drum Please think of us as life moves on We tried so hard till that last dawn Do let our spirit fill the land Pass treasured freedom, hand to hand God blessed this country with such love Hold in your heart, abundance of And when you stand before my grave Think not of one, but each who gave ![]() By Roger J. It is the Soldier
It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves under the flag, And whose coffin is draped in the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag. by Charles M. Province |
