The Lie of My Eyes


After losing my beauty
my eyes started to lie
ready it seemed for my soul was to die
Worshiped they did silver & gold
they were hopeless and empty,distant and cold

Inside I was dying but my pride was a whore
with my eyes it conspired and consume i did more
They painted a picture of composure and poise
but the demons were feeding as I drowned in their noise

Days were my stage where I winked and I wave
bright eyed and bushy-tailed so I behave
Careful I was to find a large crowd
lest tempted I was to answer the grave
Subsisting on prayers loved ones so often gave
my eyes told the world I was successful and brave

Nights were inquisitions and my judge was from hell
damn him... barked a voice clear as a bell
That voice still resonates and I know it quite well
but my eyes say I’m nurtured at peace and quite swell


My eyes were such liars oh the stories they told
of wellness and bliss,they shouted out bold
And at last when the heavens heard my surrender last sigh
a signal my spirit was ready to die
It rebuked all hell-lust and a blessing did fly
A washing my eyes no longer did lie...

I could feel the power in these words..Awesome piece.
