Sure it is a scary situation, but we can only do so much to try and protect ourselves. I wash my hands a lot, cover my mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, all the necessary things. But, and I repeat , but I will not live my life in paranoia and let this thing control my life keeping me in fear of it.

A. The virus isn't any deadlier than any other flu virus. B. 40k people die of the flu in this country alone every year. C. So far, only the very young have died from it. D. Only in Mexico have any deaths been recorded from this flu. E. If you do happen to get it, do all the things you'd normally do if you have the flu. i.e. get plenty of rest, drink lots of liquids, stay home. duh. Chicken Little, the sky is not falling. hey! that's awesome! the mexican community thought the same way you did!!!! they thought very little of it too!!! just normal everyday stuff! this means they were really good in planting it stealthly...landscape painters, gotta love em.....they were great with Katrina too. 15 minute call to norad would have changed all that. |

I think the biggest problem is everything thinks the word pandemic means we are all going die . When all it really is , is a geographic quantifier . I think there would be less fear if they just sais , A sh!t load of people may get sick , some in under devolped countries may die , but if you have a Walmart or starbucks within 200 miles of your house , even if you get it , your probably gonna be fine . Science scares people ,That they could understand

one wonders, why there are no pandemic alert levels for various other diseases which are far more deadly than swine flu and more widespread.

one wonders, why there are no pandemic alert levels for various other diseases which are far more deadly than swine flu and more widespread. Sadly , its cause White people are dying , if this has stayed in mexico , it would barely be a blip on most peoples screen |

one wonders, why there are no pandemic alert levels for various other diseases which are far more deadly than swine flu and more widespread. mostly cause this is such a new and variegated strain that they don't have vaccines for it and are pre-staging all the resources and logistics to prepared just in case it really does flair up |

Though actually i dont think the alert levels are specific to swine fever , i belive the levels are used for any pathogen or contagion

Every now and again there is a supposedly deadly virus going around that is gonna wipe us all out...bird flu, sars, now swine flu..
Do the same people that are blowing this one out of proportion panic needlessly every time? Do they never learn? |

we can belittle everything or panic....or just ignore it. i'm not worried either way for obvious reasons, but when close to two hundred are dead, and too many to count infected, and the mutation is something we do not know about yet, and the strands are morphing, and are immune to the cure we have, faster than we can make it......it could get loose from us.......a possibility.....they had to re-think about the ice-caps, and were wrong about that as well. we can't say what is or isn't. we can only be heartfelt and serious about it......death is a serious matter, no? maybe not......your choice, your freedom.

I'm only making observations |

Most people are well aware of HIV and AIDS. You are possibly too young to remember, but in the 80's there was plenty of scare mongering and advertising about it. And people today are still quite educated about it. In the western world at least. |
