Topic: does anyone believe in marriage anymore??

I mean, really.. seriously... i'm not young, but i'm not old. Too many of the women I meet think 1. never get married again 2. it's just a contract 3. just want a baby... Single friends tell me: 1. I wish I were single 2. If I had it to do again I would not have gotten married 3. they go out and hit on women in bars, even though they are married Is my view of the world old? or am I just finding the liberals?? man meets woman, falls in love, get's married??? what's happenin' out there? If you're proposing - I did I do and I will again guess it wasn't a proposal after all

Why did the institution of marriage only work when people were forced into it(as they were before modern times)?

in my family, there has only been one divorce. we are very catholic, and we are very close. all of my uncles are happily married and are loving fathers, same goes with my aunts, except they are mothers. not all families are like mine, i understand this, but growing up in a stable, loving household and entering the real world not too long ago, i have found my upbringing was a privilege, to say the least. people in the real world are so quick to rush into things. people rarely think about their actions, especially when it comes to sex and money. the whole 'instant gratification' obsession of our culture has destroyed the concept of marriage. marriage isnt a combo meal that you get through a drive-thru at mcdonalds, and it isnt a ****ing videogame. you get zero continues, and you cant throw it away once your done, well, you shouldnt at least. it is supposed to be one of the biggest commitments and investments you will ever have the PRIVILEGE to make.

If you look at the history books,marriage worked pretty good until people started getting married for love.They used to be forced to marry for family alliances and debts.Marriage for love was considered stupid until a couple hundred years ago.

If you look at the history books,marriage worked pretty good until people started getting married for love.They used to be forced to marry for family alliances and debts.Marriage for love was considered stupid until a couple hundred years ago. as a kind of insurance policy. but that isnt the case anymore.

Im pretty sure I'm right about itLove wasn't really a factor in who you married until modern times. Most people didnt even meet the person they were going to marry until wedding day.

Marriage is a solemn vow before God to committ two people's lives to each other for the rest of their lives. Marriage is not to be taken lightly or ended lightly and should last forever at least that's what I told my first three wives
