yes i am I would have asked her what SHE did before answering that question. lol Nothing wrong with smoking a bit of weed...at home or a friends. I don't ever work high or do it in the day anymore...or drive since they look for that quivering eye if you get stopped. lol Smoked probably tons growing up. (good connection) NOT addictive. I can do with it or without it. I have some good bud but havn't smoked any in a month or so. I'm old school and if you aint passing it in a circle, it aint the same. |

I personally did the whole "need to escape reality by blasting rails, popping pills and smoking" thing in the past.. It's a personaly choice if one does it or not.. I think its a addictive yes.. the chemical addiction grabs you and pulls you in.. its a coping mechanism for many... medicates others feelings.. and ect.. that is all my opinion though take it as you wish...

Overall, I do not see a problem with marijuana, but rather the smokers, depending on amount, duration, and frequency of use, and their careers.
I don't want the bus driver smoking weed.... it impacts reaction times. I don't want my day care provider smoking weed, either. No offense to you personally, but I am a mother. I've used it and know its effects... so I say this with full knowledge. I've also never used it at any time around or near my child, nor when he was in my care at all. I find it is the minority of marijuana users who are responsible ones, the ones who smoke socially or only small amounts well away from their work and with enough time before they need to work for it's immediate effects to recede. Again, I am not against marijuana... but I RARELY see it used appropriately and safely. |

I would have asked her what SHE did before answering that question. lol Ha! I work for the courts, in forensic psychology. I know people who use appropriately, I know lazy good for nothing smokers, and I meet with criminals who use it (no comment). It's a range, as in anything else. |

I believe it makes you lazy and stupid. I have quite a high IQ and am in high demand by non-doping engineers to fix things that they can't. I program in over 30 programming languages for 4 different operating systems. Primarily engineering apps but some business apps too. I also design and program circuits utilizing PICS, PALS and PROMS. Process control, simulation, etc. I can fix anything that runs on nuts & bolts, hydraulics, pneumatics or electrons. My friends, including PhD professors always introduce me as "This is Jack, the guy I've been telling you about". And I've been smoking dope 35 years. Perhaps I'm not too modest about my accomplishments and skills, and I'll just say that if you put that blanket assesment on everyone, not just stupid, lazy people that happen to smoke a bit, you're not too smart yourself. |

moderation is the key, as with everything. tobacco and alcohol are worse, marijuana is not addictive, in its natural state, its just nice :op
people who are lazy, are the ones who mix it with the evil tabacco. |

I believe they meant, for the majority, who use it can give you that affect under the influence... many people use it for different reasons... also there was the key words "I believe" so that is THEIR opinion.. let them have it.. for someone with that high IQ you should know and understand that.. |

i can absolutely guarantee you that if i found out my child care provider was using marijuana...well, i'd pull my kid faster than they could blink, and then i'd notify the authorities, including DHS in an effort to get the license pulled.
if i knew beforehand, i just wouldn't have hired them in the first place. to each their own. just keep my kiddos out of it. |

Smoked for years. Been clean and sober for 15 years. And I have accomplished more in those 15 years than in a lifetime.

I started smoking when I broke my collar bone because the doc wouldn't prescribe a pain med that didn't make me ill. That was 8+ years ago, and I quit smoking when I realized that I wasn't in constant pain anymore but was smoking more than when I was in pain.(About 8 months.) I had a small emotional addiction to it at the time, but nothing physical, and the emotional faded with time. I think that it should be legal, and it should be recomended in certain medical situations (cancer, AIDS, glaucoma, pain med, etc.) but I also believe that a user should be VERY careful about how they use it and about the frequency of use. Certain professions should not use it, no matter what the situation (Truck drivers, heavy machinery operators, law enforcement. Just a few examples.) Also, a user should either grow his/her own or know that you are getting it from a very trusted source. Too many dealers lace it with other, more harmful, substances, and that is probably the biggest way in which it is a "gateway drug", in my opinion. I think that if it were legal, it would be safer to use.
Since you are feeling compelled to ask in this setting, it would seem that you are starting to have doubts about using it. Considering how much you have to lose if you are caught and convicted, and considering that you are working in a VERY responsible line of work, and with kids, quitting would probably be your most prudent course of action. I don't think that a person is wrong to use weed, but there are other factors to consider as well. I hope that my soapbox hasn't been too pushy, and I hope that everyone's advice helps you to work through this. |
