I go outside this afternoon to discover that yet another of my son's bikes has been stolen. This now makes 5 in the last 7 years. This was done in broad daylight and taken from under my carport.
What ticks me off more than anything is that it's teens doin it. What I'd like to know is where are the parents heads when these kids are comin home with bikes that don't belong to them? My son comes home with anything that isn't his, I find out where it came from and then verify the story he told me with the other's parent. I've got an apartment complex directly across from me and there's always people out an about. I ask around and of course no one ever sees anything. All I can say is whichever kid took it better hope I don't run across him. Cause if I do I'm gonna knock him off the bike an drag him by his d*mn ear to his mother and let her know she's raising a thief.

I've got the juvenile officer's number on speed dial.

That's terrible.
Bike thieving doesn't go unpunished in the cycling community. U-lock justice. I agree with Audie, the only time my bikes are outdoors is during a ride. |

I am sorry to hear that. It's pretty pathetic that we can't leave our own items on our own property without some little punk coming along and taking what they know isn't theirs. I sure hope they find whoever took the bike.

The cost of bikes now, it could be a bike theft ring. Someone who puts together and sells bikes might be paying kids to bring them in. Then he paints them, changes them and resells them.
As a private investigator I would look at that angle. If just kids are stealing them to ride them, they probably repaint or change them around too so they don't get caught, but they could be stealing them to sell them for parts or to bike shops. |

I've got a godd idea who did it. He's known in this neighborhood for stealin. The d*mn cops won't do nuthin bout him despite the fact that he's got at least 2 bench warrants on him. |

If the town is small and you suspect who did it, then I would have a talk with the kid's parents and/or watch that kid like a hawk to see if he has that bike. If his parents try to protect him and you feel sure he has the bike and have seen it, (try to photograph it) then I would ask them return the bike or produce proof that it was purchased and not stolen. If he really has two bench warrents on him, then you can insist that the local law arrest him. It is the law. You are a citizen. They have to do their job. If they don't, complain to the local judge and County commissioners and anyone who will listen. I would not give up. I would not let them get away with that. |

 I couple years ago I told a juvenile delinquent kid that used to live in my neighborhood that I would kick his ass up and down the street if he touched anything of mine and he never bothered anything (of mine).His mom and dad was real poor and didnt give a **** about him and I would give him food when I grilled out. I straight out told him that if I found anything missing or out of place on my property that I was just gonna come straight after him and lay the smackdown on him. He eventually got took away by the state and put in jail or something but I never had a problem with him.

My son comes home with anything that isn't his, I find out where it came from and then verify the story he told me with the other's parent. a) they are not taking them home, they could just stow them in the woods or a ditch, or . . . . b) the parents are oblivious. c) the parents don't care. d) both. If I had to guess id say the vast majority of the human population fall into category D. I've got an apartment complex directly across from me and there's always people out an about. Once you have been spotted as an easy mark word gets around, chances are its not one kid, its probably 5 kids who talk. |

i used to get nails in my tires in my driveway mysteriously of course... and dog **** too in the front yard... funny how when the kids are walking their dog by now say noooo there is a camera up there!!!17.99 and a couple of batteries may help ya out... cheaper than a new bike.. or perhaps park the bike in the back yard during the day when not in use..

My daughter got hers stolen from the chuch parking lot. no place is safe except inside, in sight.
as for their parents, they're not being parents when theire kids aren't in view.they ...nevermind,I don't want to get myself worked up. |

Take an electrical cord, and cut off the plug. Then, hook it up to the bike, and set the bike up outside. Then go into the house, and plug the other end into the outlet, and get some popcorn, cuz the show will start as soon as it gets dark..
