I was in a firefight in 1969. An RPG hit near me and took out 2 of my buds. I wasn't touched. Just couldn't believe it....

Sounds like you had angels surrounding you flowerforyou

I think your right, still don't know why, after all these years.
Thanksflowerforyou

I can't believe that I will be graduating in May. I have been working on this degree since the beginning of 2006. I worked full time and did a FREE internship at the same time as doing the school work. Phew...glad I am almost done.

What a wonderful accomplishment!! flowerforyou We need to plan a graduation celebration for you!!

At 18, 2 weeks after high school graduation I enlisted in the Army. This was in 1974. Very brave thing for a somewhat naive young girl. First time I had been away from home for any appreciable time. Getting to South Carolina for basic training involved my first plane and city bus ride ever and I was surrounded by strangers. Getting off the bus at Ft. Jackson, immediately this man in a wierd lookin hat (drill sergeant) started screaming at us. I remember thinking, why is this man so angry and WTH have I done!!noway

Basic was 2 months, July and August, in sometimes unbearable heat and humidity...needless to say the longest 2 months of my life and no doubt the same for many of the young girls there with me. That drill sergeant was still yelling when we all graduated!!

I think of that girl who was so brave back then. Now, I don't think I could muster up that much courage.drinker

So...what have you done in your life that you look back on and think....I can't believe I did that?!

I hear you! My whole life consists one "can't believe I did that" to the next one.

I have also served in the Army for 6 years and neither I can believe i did that, but my best memories comes from that time!
I just hope I'm gonna do more stuff very soon, which will make me say in the future, "I can't believe I did that!"
  flowerforyou

Yeah, some of my fondest memories are of my time in the Army.

Hopin I have a lot more 'can't believe I did that' times ahead for me as well!

Wow! I had no idea this topic would take the direction it has.

Some very strong people here who have survived/endured some real tests of our courage. Thank you all for the very personal look inside of what's make you who you are. flowers

Thank you for posting this thread! flowerforyou

My pleasure! flowerforyou Think sometimes we forget what we're capable of and what we have accomplished. Don't think it hurts to remind ourselves every once in a while what truly remarkable people we are.

When I think about it I am actually surprised I have been able to make rent and bills at all lately! I almost can't believe it!
