it's a surreal feeling holding a severed hand, leg or a head by the hair for sure........it detatches you, and grabs you at the same time, and picking up the head is hard, for you don't wanna do it by the hair, for dis-respect, but they're too slippery to not hold it up by the hair with at least one hand on the jaw that will hang open (dammit) and to think we live for at least a coherent 15 seconds afterwards, proven by a victim of the french revolution scientist that was be-headed, and his helper asked him questions and answers with eye movements until he faded away.....way too surreal...accidents suck!!!!

I raised 2 daughters mostly on my own. I didnt have a car at first with the oldest and I walked to my job and back. I dont think I could go through all that again. But Im very proud of my girls. They are fine, young adults now!!!!!!

I'm sure they are proud of you and the sacrifices you made. You were a fine example for them. ((Liz))flowerforyou

I enlisted on my 30th birthday

I was older than all my drill instructors in bootcamp

Why on your 30th birthday?

Yep, my brains still working and I severed my....oh wait, I thought you said HAIR, not HEAD. Forget it!oops

My bro got soaked in gasoline and lit up. We got him put out but when we pulled his shirt off to irrigate him, his skin came off his arms like a glove. He was in really bad pain and asking someone to "please knock him out". A cop shows up so I say "Hey, can I borrow your billy club a moment?". He was mad at me for years after that, calling me insensitive and stuff. I didn't even do it!!

my ex-girlfriend of two years ago was a sh!t to me, and i left, but her new cop husband, yeah, that was fast...blew his head off on new years day, same year(absolutely terrible!) and she comes to me after, to ask or forgiveness,(i did, but i won't forget either, i told her) about how she realized that she treated me and to cry as well, and was talking about suicide, and she has four children, so i gently, but urgently lit into her that she couldn't do that, and she aggreed,....well, through this time, i found out she was working at a pizza parlor, and the most terrible dark humor(yes, worse than deaths treaty)....all i could think of then was....................did she ask him what he wanted on his tombstone?

bbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!aaaaaaaaaaaggggggggeeeeee!!!!!! i'm goin straight to hell! but for that thought it was worth it. i eventually told her,(penance) and she laughed!!!!

After going to college I always thought that I would have a nice desk job somewhere, living happily ever after with my husband. When he walked away, I was on my own.

I ended up putting my degree to use when I was hired as the first police officer in a small town in Kentucky. I survived 10 weeks of doing things I never knew that I could do (shooting guns, hand to hand combat and baton training, driving at high speeds with accuracy) and was one of 4 women in a class of 57.

Then, the real "WTH have I done?" kicked in on my first day on the streets. Not to mention putting up with 7 "big brothers" who taught me everything that I know (I love those guys). Reality kicked in and I did the best job that I could possibly do. I am proud to say that I did it with dignity and a clear (100%) conscience, and I am proud to say I survived it for almost 8 years.

I love those moments that we step out of our comfort zone and see exactly what we are capable of do with our life. flowerforyou

At 18, 2 weeks after high school graduation I enlisted in the Army. This was in 1974. Very brave thing for a somewhat naive young girl. First time I had been away from home for any appreciable time. Getting to South Carolina for basic training involved my first plane and city bus ride ever and I was surrounded by strangers. Getting off the bus at Ft. Jackson, immediately this man in a wierd lookin hat (drill sergeant) started screaming at us. I remember thinking, why is this man so angry and WTH have I done!!noway

Basic was 2 months, July and August, in sometimes unbearable heat and humidity...needless to say the longest 2 months of my life and no doubt the same for many of the young girls there with me. That drill sergeant was still yelling when we all graduated!!

I think of that girl who was so brave back then. Now, I don't think I could muster up that much courage.

So...what have you done in your life that you look back on and think....I can't believe I did that?!

I hear you! My whole life consists one "can't believe I did that" to the next one.

I have also served in the Army for 6 years and neither I can believe i did that, but my best memories comes from that time!
I just hope I'm gonna do more stuff very soon, which will make me say in the future, "I can't believe I did that!"

I was in a firefight in 1969. An RPG hit near me and took out 2 of my buds. I wasn't touched. Just couldn't believe it....

I can't believe that I will be graduating in May. I have been working on this degree since the beginning of 2006. I worked full time and did a FREE internship at the same time as doing the school work. Phew...glad I am almost done.
